Can work force me to take extended maternity leave.

My GP has diagnosed me with PND and told me she thinks i wont cope with my job when i am suposed to return in two weeks, so she is planning to give me an insurance line. I told my personel manager today and she mentioned i could just take extended maternity leave instead of sickleave, but i am our main earner and really need to be back at work for the money. If i take extra maternity it is unpaid but sickleave is 3 months full pay then 3 months at 90%.

Can they force me to take extended maternity or should i stick to my guns and stick to my original return date which they have had in writing for about two months?

i'd stick to your guns hun they can't make you do anything and def not if doctor has signed you off. x

If a doc has signed you off you should be getting sick pay. They can't force you to take extended maternity leave!

As the others have said hun if your GP has signed you off you are entitled to sick pay, they can't make you take extended maternity leave.
