and when about does it happen? i am 34 weeks and starting to get shooting pains up my vagina (tmi sorry) sometimes its a really strange pain? does any1 else get it? x

I have no idea, was 6cm dialated with first before i even knew i was in labour lol! Only found out at midwife check, didnt wanna read and run x

Yes I'm getting that stingy feeling on my cervix, hope it's a sign of an early labour. I was engaged about 5 weeks before I had my son and he came 8 days early. I also used to get a plopping feeling like his head was dropping into a space everytime I sat on the loo.. Was the strangest feeling and no one else I've asked has ever had it!!

I dunno...this is the first baby for me, but i have certainly had shooting pains in my veejay.xx

At my last appointment, baby was at -2 station (fully engaged is at 0), but I get weird stinging/pinching pains in my vagina and cervix sometimes. It feels like his head is grinding against it. Your baby is probably dropping and now is putting direct pressure on the area, causing the pain.

This is my 2nd bubs and the 1st time baby never engaged, and even when they induced me she wasn't fully engaged. i know they can pop in and out, especially 2nd babies, but today I've felt what I believe to be her head on my cervix causing a sharp pain. So I think her thoughts are there to engage, but whether she will or not who knows!!

At 38 weeks I was 2/5 engaged and then at 39+6 baby was fully engaged. I dont feel any different now than before baby was engaged however just before my 40 week check up I had a major clear out and quite a few cramps which midwife said could have been baby engaging. I don't feel alot of pressure or a constant need to pee as other women say so baby could be engaged, but don't worry as some babies don't engage until labour, and other babies can be engaged for like 4 weeks so it really doesn't mean anything unfortunately xx

I am at a station -2 so I am not fully engaged yet. The pain "down there" is from the baby hitting up against your cervix, at least that is what the midwife told me today.

I feel shooting pains in my v-jay and cervix. This is my second baby...with my first I don't think he was ever engaged I ended up having to have a c-section because of failure to progress (dilate) in labour.....

I also get these pains a lot, and when i mentioned to m/w she said that its babys head bumping the cervix and hitting nerves x

oh ok thanku for all your comments they are very helpful :) everyone at work was saying today that i looked like i had "dropped" which was reli funny cuz i haddnt metioned anything...ive been getting major braxton hicks recently and alot of period pains not sure why? xxx

i did ....at 38 weeks...had so much pressure pain!!!! could literally feel her drop into my pelvis

Good thread, thanks :) this is my second baby. With ds I didn't engage until labour. I was induced at 37 weeks and failed to progress so had an emergency section. It feels a lot different this time. I get this strange feeling like baby is headbutting my pelvis and wriggling about down there, and feel the need to pee whenever I'm standing. I think baby is on her way down south!! XX
