Hello,

So I bought a doppler a few weeks ago & have been happliy finding the heartbeat once a week ish.

Last week I did it 2 days in a row to show OH & it had moved from one side to the opposite, I didn't think anything of it,

Then I wanted to find it today, I found the heartbeat under my belly button & down to the left above my bone & then I was moving the doppler around to make sure I wasn't hearing things & I picked the heartbeat up again but on my right side above my bone???

Can you find the same heartbeat in different places??

many thanks for any help :flower:

It's defo not my own heartbeat it sounds completely different, not sue if it's placenta?? I didn't know you can hear that Lol, I'm pretty clueless

The placenta is your heartbeat i believe. I heard both placenta 'whooshing' and babies heartbeat on tuesday. Babies was only in one place though which was strong and fastish compared.

If you are listening to your placenta is sounds a bit like a regular pulsing wooshing noise, the heart beat if your baby will sound a bit like a train or galloping horse though in first tri it is still quite quiet. I would think in first Tri the baby's heartbeat would be found quite low down in the pelvis as your uterus will still be lower down. Hope this helps,. I used a doppler in my last pregnancy and it did take me a while to figure out what I was listening to. xxx

Hahahahaaa!! I am defo clueless Lol, I guess I'll have wait for my 12wk scan (1 week on monday) ............... patience is not my strong suit Lol

You wont find babys heartbeart in more than one place at the same time no.

Babys dont like dopplers (I dont mean it causes them distress BTW) so they move away from them which is why you will find that you might hear the heartbeat for 10 seconds or so then it goes and you have to find it again. Baby is swimming away from it.

You will know if its babys heartbeat or placenta as babys will be about double the rate. x

If its any help, the GP found my babies heartbeat low down (and on my right side) I'm a novice too. Just going by what my GP was telling me!! I'd be terrible with a doppler so i refuse to buy one for that reason! xx

Good point!

Im not sure how far on your are hun but you wont find the heartbeat beside your belly button in first tri. Im 19 weeks and the heartbeat is about 2 to 3 inches below. If you put your doppler where your pubic bone is thats where you are most likely to find it (where your stomach kinda stops and your pubic area starts). Good luck!

It's not by my belly button, its underneath & to the left or right just by my hip bones towards the middle - I'm not very good at explaining Lol

I'm 11 weeks on sunday, I'll try again later & see what happens, I'm finding it quite fun anyway :-) Thank you xxx

I finally found mine yesterday! Before that I was hearing my own heart beat.

It was in the centre just above my hair line. If you go towards the bones to the side it is likely it is your own heart beat.

My heart beat is around 2 a second. You definitely know when you hear the babies as its much faster and sounds like a train.

I found it lying on the bed with my feet on the floor, and rather than moving it left and right across my body, I just angled it. Someone said on here that you point it like you would a torch looking into the darkness.

Even if you can't hear the heart beat you can hear something moving around. I assume this is the baby swimming around in there.

My baby is always in the same place and never over to the left always middle ish slightly to the right but not to much as thats where my own pulse is x

If you are listening on the sides by your hips, its probably your kidneys. I did the same thing with my first before I figured it out. You need to try down by pubic bone toward the middle. Good luck! Cant wait til I am far along enough to try!

Lol!!! Thanks ladies :-) I'll keep trying, feel a bit silly now :haha:

Or it could be twins and your not silly at all?

Wow so much misinformation on this page. YES you can find the heartbeat in more than one place. Ask your obgyn, google it. I am a medical assistant and always find my babies in more than 1 place. Also The placenta is NOT your heartbeat, I don't k ow where that person got that info lol but no it's not your heartbeat and you never pick up your heartbeat in the placenta, it is a whooshing sound and that is all.
