Im on metformin, have been for 5 weeks now..and my periods are everywhere come when they feel like it...currently on day 75..no period...this is normal for me..i go 50, 66, 74 days at a time...but im wondering is a period needed for ovulation...as im sitting here thinking pleaseeeee period will you come so i can try again...or is my period not that important and i could ovulate at any time??

you can ovulate with out having periods.
Like you have have a really long cycle (usually because you did not ovulate) but then ovulate at the end of it. I am pretty sure I have heard of people ovulating after like 70 days since their last AF.

But if you ovulate.....you should expect a period afterwards around 2 weeks later (or how ever long your LP is). Im pretty sure that if you dont have AF then you didnt O that cycle...

Does that make sense?

Like I had a cycle that lasted around 70ish days. That is because I didnt O the first cycle (and then didnt have AF when expected) and then moved onto the next cycle where I did ovulate. After that O I did end up having my period.

my doctors have said to me that although i havent had any af in over a yr i could well still be ovulating regularly - although i know i'm not as i've had no ov pains at all like usual
