I got fed up with the straps on my high chair getting all covered in food. So hard to clean! I wanted to wash them, but the darn things were bolted in! After getting them off, I decided not to put them back on. The high chair has a crotch bar, so LO can't slide anywhere, plus we are doing blw, so he is always supervised.

Anyone else do this?

Should I put them back on?

I did with ours as there is a crotch bar and the tray keeping him in there! I was also fed up with the straps getting dirty and, as he got older, the straps used to annoy him anyway.

I'd rather deal with the dirty straps than rely on just the crotch guard, myself. I'm always around when he's eating but that doesn't mean I don't move away at all so I just feel better knowing he's strapped in. I do make him wear his long sleeve bib over his harness though so that helps a lot with avoiding the straps getting nearly as dirty. :flower:

We took them off once the kids were able to sit on a normal chair without falling off. If your LO still needs the crotch bar to hold him in, I'd not take the straps off either, just in case. I tended to put a big bib on LO once the straps were fastened so they were mostly covered up anyway.
