cannot handle growth spurt...

had a really really rough night lastnight, she screamed all night... not sure what was wrong because she wouldnt latch on to me so i just sat winding her and trying to feed her every 5 min or so.

im knackered :(

Do you think she could have some reflux problems? I know my cousin's daughter had that and would often scream anytime you tried to feed her and/or lie her down. Try to catch a nap today!!

Hmm Tezzy does she arch her back a lot during a feed and do you hear her tummy rumbling loads?

she feeds for about 5 min then starts screaming her head off

is it your let down?

my LO was also very unhappy about my quick let down in the beginning!

but surely she would latch back on after 5 min or so?

Ffion just gets stressed out and refuses to latch backon

Tezzy,

Maybe she's developing an aversion to the breast? I remember there were some frustrations early on, and maybe she's slowly just attributing those frustrations with breastfeeding?

Here's some info on Kellymom.com about how you can maybe help Ffion 'like' it again.

As an aside, my LO has been REALLY fussy at night (not really all day, just from 4-5pm to midnight or so. We cluster feed but what you describe Ffion doing, Sharlotte does it too. Feed for 5 mins, (of even just a few seconds) yank at the breast, pull off and scream her fool head off for the next 10 mins.

Over and over and over and over again. :dohh:

I've found with Sharlotte it has to do with gas. If I don't get EVERY bit of gas out of her through burping, and do it several times during a feed, she's just miserable for the evening.

My dairy intake also seems to correlate directly with her fussiness too. But I know you've mentioned that you're already pretty much dairy free.

:hugs:

Tezzy, it sounds as though your lil one may have bad reflux, just like acid reflux in adults, it can be rather painful for lil ones and it bothers them tons while they are feeding to the point that they pop off the breast because of the discomfort but then cry because they are still hungry. In addition, tummy rumbling is a sign. Does this sound like what is going on?

Have a little chat with your GP because if that is the case they can help you!
