Hi everyone, Just having a moan really
My son is now 9 months old and never slept for longer than 20 mins he is always on the go, he has plenty of milk and solids, the health visitors have monitored this and say he's getting plenty, he is up all night wanting to play, he isnt waking for food either just wants to get out of his cot and explore. if i leave him there he starts crying and wont stop, he wont settle in bed with us either! he has no more than 2x 10 minute naps in the day either, he is crwaling now and pulling himself up to stand. I can tell he is tired as he is getting grumpy and the tears start, but he will not give him, tried the car, pram rocking etc but still will not sleep, health visitors seem to think he will grow out of it but would they cope on no sleep for 9 months ? Where do they get there energy from, i am shattered :( plus i am back at work so i dont even get a break at all, when i get home it starts all over again, my husband works shifts and has call outs in the nights, even if he gets up to Jack i still hear it all and cant get to sleep. Can the gp give them anything to make them have some sort of solid sleep, it cant be healthy for him either..... Sorry about the essay, just after some advice before i am tear my hair out :dohh:

I don't really have any advice i'm afraid. I take it you've tried all the usual, swaddling? Co-sleeping? Changing beds? I hope it gets better for you x

Aww hun - i feel for you and you are right, it can't be good for your little man to be getting next to no sleep......could you ask your HV/GP to refer you (well baby) to a sleep councilor....they do exist and worked wonderes for my friends daughter who sounds just like your little lad - would only sleep in short bursts of 20 - 40 mins day and night - he now sleeps a good six hrs straight at night, wakes just once but ill resettle for another couple of hours after a drink. will also take two 50 min naps during the day - it has taken a lot of hard work and tears to get to this, but has only taken 6 weeks - sounds a long time but it isn't really. They still see her once a week and things continue to improve - look into it, they sound like a god send!

Big hugs xx

excuse poor spelling and grammer - have a fidgety 6 week old in one arm!

oh honey i have no idea what to suggest expect poor you :hugs: no wonder you're shattered. i think its great advice from baby D, hope he sleeps more soon :hugs: x x x

Hi Sorry to hear about your problems. One of the mums who goes to my baby massage class had quite bad sleep issues with her little girl, she wouldnt nap in the day or in pram or car etc and was a nightmare at night. she ended up getting help from sleep counsellors. I think they were called sleepnannies.co.uk but your HV should be able to sort u out with some information on this. She had to pay for it but she said it was the best thing she ever did. Her little girl now has has a few naps in the day and now sleeps through the night ans she is now nearly 9 months old. I hope things improve for you soon xx

oh no, i'm sorry all i can say is i hope he grows out of it

oh wow... i have no advice at all except you are doing a remarkable job... I would have cracked weeks ago... !! I do hope it gets easier for you :hugs:

he has never ever slept for more than 20 minutes in a row?? OMG! EVen in the night, he wakes every 20 mins?

How are you still alive?

What about seeing a osteopath?
I've heard they can work wonders and a friends baby slept solid for 2 nights after seeing one about colic or something or other.

(Making mental note to myself to not moan again when my LO has got me up 3 times in a night..)

Wow thank you all very much for your replies. i am going to take Jack to the clinic tomorrow and see if they can sort anything out for me

you're doing an amazing job to have lasted this long with hardly any sleep. I don't really have any advice (sorry) but I hope you can get him sorted soon hun xxx

Hang in there

Caitlyn is the same. She is soooo clever, but with cleverness comes an over-active imaginatin, that doesn't switch off at night. My friends little boy is seeing someone to help him sleep. Could your HV recommend anyone to see about it?

Hi

I thought I had it bad and my LO on wakes a couple times during the night. I really feel sorry for you, you must be exhausted.
I hope they are able to help you, please update

wow thanx everyone will update you shortly..... ur comments are very much appreciated xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Have you read The "Baby Whisperer" book? It's very good and has lots of help for various different issues including sleep. May be worth a look anyway. There is also a website babywhisperer.com where you can get lots of help and advice.
Good luck. x
