My Oh has just had an accident in our car (he's literally just called me, both him and DD are ok, it wasn't his fault and the police were there to see it)
We have a basic high backed booster for DS and one of these https://www.very.co.uk/cosatto-cosatt...1188852608.prd
for Esther.

Is it still the same for these type of car seats iro having to replace them if the car in involved in an accident?
And does it change depending on the type of accident? (OH has said that it was a side impact on the basic booster side but the impact was basically to the wing of the car and no-where near the rear door)
Do all car insurance companies pay for replacements?

My husband is a car seat specialist and is always on at me about if there is an any sort of accident, it's dropped, whatever then it always need replacing. It just isn't worth the risk of not.

And as far as I am aware all insurance policies pay out, look through your insurance documents to make sure and to see exactly what is covered.

Ps. Glad they are all okay x

yep ide replace it. if its got a hairline crack you cant see the seat is basically useless if there is another accident!! x

I work for an insurance co and we pay out for replacements. If yours don't, try the other persons insurer.

:)

If you provide your insurance company with a receipt to show you've bought a new one - Yes the other sides company have to pay for it. (Presuming its their fault. ) That's how it was for me - Our car seat was £150. x

Glad everyone's okay. Car seats need to be replaced after an accident, no matter how minor. My insurance though was an ass and refused to replace mine, I had to pay out of pocket.

I am glad everyone is ok!

I would replace them, no matter what. It could have an invisible hairline crack that isn't visible or even just extra stress that makes it fail next time. Better safe than sorry, imo.

OH was in an accident and even though it wasn't his fault we had to pay out-of-pocket because they didn't have insurance and ours only covered certain types of wrecks, but it was nonnegotiable to me to get a new one.

Oh, btw, when throwing out old carseats, make sure to cut the belts off or something else to make it unusable so that other people won't see them in the trash and try to use them without realizing.
