Hi. Firstly my LO was given gaviscon at around three months and it constipated him haven't tried it since tho after a awful time trying again. It dosent make the milk thicker in the bottle so does it thicken later in the tummy. If it makes LO poorly again anyone tried carobel? Anygood? And is it dairy free? Thanks x

Hi my lo is on carobal it is fab it thickens after 1 min and goes like yoghurt but my lo can get it out easily from a tommi tippi vari flow teat and she keeps it down great much better then gavascon Don't think it's fairly free tho

We were initially presribed Infant Gaviscon for Sam's reflux and I thought it did nothing. We then were precribed Carobel and it made a massive difference - so much less milk coming back up. Used it from about 2-3 weeks old until weaning was well established at 7 months and he no longer needed it. I felt more comfortable with it, feels more natural to use daily than gaviscon iykwim. Also you can vary the amount - we started with 1 scoop in Sam's 4oz bottles and as he increased to 8oz bottles I stuck to 1 scoop and it seemed to be all he needed. Was good to have the flexibility of increasing it though.

Not fully sure if it's dairy free but I would expect so.

We used gaviscon and it made our LO so constipated.

Put him on carobel and it works so much better! It's dairy free. You can make the milk to the consistency that works best for your little one and it doesn't constipate.

It definately helps keep most of our LO milk down, he used to be sick loads when we laid him down, he doesn't at all now.

Got it today tho Dex is so sensitive am scared :( yet I hear his milk splashing in his tummy.

Hi I actually asked the doctor today about this as lo has a milk allergy and is on special formula (guessing yours is too) I said is stopped the gaviscon as made Lo constipated and should I try carobel. He advised against it as said its best not to mess with his milk as it makes the milk so thick and can have its own problems. My Lo doesn't have pain with his reflux so he said its better to just do lots of clothes washing. Carobel doesn't help with pain which wouldn't mater with him anyway. Maybe check with your doctor first if your Lo is on prescribed milk.
