Carpet cleaner

We desperately need a new carpet in the living room, but having a 15 month old makes that seem pretty pointless.

Can anyone recommend a good (relatively cheap) carpet cleaning machine type thing??? We've always paid to have someone do it, but I'd actually rather invest in something that will last & I can use on a regular (ish!) basis. Have no idea what I'm looking for!

Like I said, I've had my Vax over six years and it gets used at least worth a month. Absolutely worth the money!

Definately worth the money. I've had around 6 years. I got it when Joshua was potty training...it was a god send!

I don't know the model but we have a vax carpet cleaner and have done for years. It's so worth every penny. We have cream carpets throughout and it brings them up a treat! I do need a new carpet in the living room now though, it seems car oil doesn't come out men!!
Takes a couple hours to dry but it's not left soaking wet anyway.
