Is anyone planning on using their carry cot from the pram instead of a moses basket so baby can sleep overnight?

I have both( moses basket from last time, I dont like them wouldn't have bought if didnt already have it ) but the carry cot looks bigger and cosier so I think I will use that if it fits on the stand, will be easier for bubs to get used to sleeping in the same place too.

I am using the carry cot instead of buying the moses basket... But I was having baby straight into cot at night... with divider and swaddling... So its only for during the day downstairs...

Also i would use it over night if stopping at my mums x

I am getting a co sleeper but for naps during the day and when staying at other family members houses I plan to use the carry cot from the pram, why take up space in the house with what is basically a duplicate item. Plus if you leave it attached the pram you can really easily rock to sleep or bounce them around a little to soothe them.
Glad it isn't just me, my OH wanted a moses basket as well because he thought it was weird to use the carry cot!

I'm thinking of the m+p sola city or mylo 2 at the moment and they both say for occasional sleeps so perhaps I may be good to get a better mattress if it's to be used everyday as a Moses basket. That's what I think I'll do

I had a moses basket for my daughter, but now i dont see the point when you have one with a pram.... Its more money and waste space in the house... x

I was planning on using this as a downstairs sleep area since it comes with a stand and can be used for sleeping but have a wooden crib upstairs. I don't see a point in a moses basket since they will grow out of it in a few months.

Id be a bit vary personally not all carry cots are suitable for long use eg overnight sleeping unless they are stated on manual.
Which could end up costing you more because just like moses basket a carrycot doesnt last long either.

My first born hated moses basket.

My second liked hers and lasted 2 months.

Im undecided what im doing right now i want baby in cot from as soon as possible at night.

I can pick up moses basket for £5 or less.

My DD slept in her pramette downstairs from 2 weeks old, then went into a cot in her own room from 3 months,so i will be trying the same this time but with a carry cot,and we have a swinging crib for our bedroom this time as moses basket was a waste of time.
My advice is if you dont really need one dont get one, they are a waste of space, and i always hear people saying that baby didnt like it
:dust:

My friend highly recommends this as an alternative to a Moses basket

so i have bought one.. I got mine for £70 so shop around. ;-)

As for using the carry cot I read somewhere that if you plan to do this there are little mattresses you can buy for that purpose.

Dd slept in the sola carrycot in the day til she outgrew it and I'd have been happy to use it at night too. We bought the special sleepfresh mattress that is suitable for overnight sleeping.

We used the carrycot from our pram with our son when he was born, but only for naps. At night he slept in his cot. We lived in a small flat then, so we didn't have room for a moses basket. This time we're in a much bigger house and have room for one, so we'll be napping her in the moses basket during the day and having her sleep in a beside crib at night (I ended up pretty much cosleeping with my son, so the idea is that in the bedside crib she'll be at my side, but in her own safe space - I was always paranoid about my son getting hurt in our bed). My son outgrew his carrycot within the first two/three months. He was huge and I'm not expecting his sister to be much smaller. The bedside crib is a lot bigger than a moses basket though, so hopefully she'll sleep in that much longer than 2/3 months!

We used ours from our Hauck Apollo til she was 4 months old, it's lovely and long. We also bought a special mattress for night time sleep (ventilated head etc). The one that came with the carrycot was paper thin and had a harness included so it wasn't really suitable anyway. Only cost £12 for a custom mattress!

Since we live in an apartment we just took the whole buggy into our room and could wheel it into the living room for daytime. So convenient. I can't imagine lugging around a moses basket & stand every day.

Will definitely be doing the same again (with a new mattress, old one is all covered in baby vom now).

Hmm interesting thread. We have a M&P Sola carry cot and have used it for occasional overnight sleeps when we were away from home. At home we had a Moses basket on a stand in our bedroom. It was wider and longer than the carry cot and it wasn't quite as deep. I just preferred to have the Moses basket set up in the bedroom for the longer night time sleep and used the carry cot downstairs for daytime naps. I couldn't take the carry cot easily up and down the stairs when recovering from my c-sections either

I've ordered the Graco Evo and it says the carrycot is ok for 'occasional overnight sleeping' but this isn't helpful. It is or it isn't.

We were thinking of using it in place of a moses basket at night with a mattress but I was worried about ventilation.

I'm thinking of doing this. But I think I will end up just using carrycot for out and about and sleeps downstairs during the day.

Moses baskets are quite cheap and feel more airey so I think that's good for them for good air flow.

my lo hated the moses basket we had, so glad we were given in second hand as it was a waste. I am buying one of these this time https://www.mothercare.com/Chicco-Next-2-Me-Bedside-Crib---Dove-Grey/593765,default,pd.html we co slept last time as worked better for us and this will make sure if lo ends up in bed with us for any reason no chance of rolling on baby

The carry cot i'm getting says its suitable for overnight sleeping, but i might get a better mattress for it anyway just to be safe.

I've got a Moses basket. I loved using one for our daughter so got one for this baby too. They're cheap to pick up. I'll use it on the stand downstairs in the daytime etc. and will just pop it in the cot for night time. I did this with my daughter and it helped her get used to being in the cot.
