My cat scratched my little boys lip. There are a couple of very small marks (the size of a full stop) on his cheek too. I'm so annoyed at myself! I was in the bathroom and LO was in my bedroom. I didn't realise the cat was there.

Anyway, the lip bled for a bit but not much at all and it's fine now. I've cleaned it up with luke warm water and just left it. Should I put something on it like germoline?

Yes, I would clean it with some type of antiseptic. Cat claws are very dirty, and you don't want it to get infected. Keep a close eye on him, too, as its kind of a hard location to keep clean and covered, to be sure he doesn't get an infection or fever or anything from it.

My guys been scratched by the cat a few times now (he likes giving them cuddles which get a bit too much)

I just wipe it clean and then make sure it gets a good soaking in the bath at night. I've never used any cream and he's never had an infection from it :)

My son has been scratched on his hand before, while "playing" with the cats (despite being told the cats really don't like to play). I washed it well and then put some neosporin on it the first time, but the second time he was older and I just washed it with soap and water.

I actually tend to not do anything when Violet gets scratched and she's never had any issues.

I think this may be one of those things where personally knowing multiple people who have gotten cat scratch fever has made me even more paranoid about cat scratches.

I may be a little lax considering the amount of cat scratches I got as a child, it seems like no big deal to me.

We had (outdoor) cats as child. My sister and I LOVED to bathe them. :dohh:...you can only imagine the amount of scratches...

I'm a bit lax about it usually but when my cat scratched me at the vet they made me wash it with antiseptic soap there and then. No harm in some antiseptic cream.

It's not a huge deal, really, but does seem more preventable with proper care after. It seems kind of flu-like with symptoms from the people I know who've contracted it. Not pleasant, obviously, but certainly not life threatening. I'd want to avoid it if possible though, as I HATE being sick, and I HATE my kids being sick. Its the worst. LOL

I was worried about cat scratch fever. He has been scratched on his hand once before and he was ok. I was quite concerned that this was his lip. He seems ok. I know when I've been scratched before by a cat, the scratch gets really itchy.

Ouch! Make sure you wash it with antiseptic soap to keep it clean. Hopefully it'll heal quickly. :hugs:

My LO got scratched by our dog right under her eye and it got infected. I asked the doctor if I should have put polysporin or something on it and he said it wouldn't have prevented a deeper infection/just soap and water is usually fine.

Just keep an eye out for redness, heat, and swelling.

Maria is always getting scratched by the cat, I wash it and spray with antiseptic spray.
