I hope i'm not telling you stuff you all know, hopefully this is useful to someone as I see lots of you use them
The cbfm and persona sticks are interchangeable so you can buy whichever work out cheaper (as are the units really if you wanted to buy a persona one and just BD on the red days!)
You can read the sticks without the monitor. The line nearest the bit you pee is LH, this darkens when you surge close to O. The other line is estrogen, this gets fainter when you surge. Typically you'll see the estrogen line get faint first (and get your first peak) and then the LH line with darken the following day (giving a 2nd peak)
If you line your sticks up for the cycle you'll see your pattern. Useful to know if you ever go away and just want to pee on the stick without taking the monitor.
You can 'trick' the monitor, eg if you know you never peak until say CD20 but it ask for sticks waay too early you can use a 'low' stick from the previous cycle and save on sticks.
After your peak the monitor is pre-programmed to give you a high then lows, this is a set pattern and has nothing to do with what the pee on your stick says.....so again you could use old sticks.
The highs v's low days are based on your history of previous cycles that the monitor remembers, not so much you actual pee sticks - they will all be pretty similar until the lines flip then the monitor will declare that a peak. You can therefore have days and days of 'highs' due to a later than previous cycles surge.
Oh and for those doing ivf you can use the sticks to confirm your trigger injection has done it's thing, the LH line should darken after both a HSG and suprecur trigger
