Hey ladies...
My husband recently got me addicted to Chai tea... I drink two cups in the am, with milk and sugar. The brand is Bigelow Vanilla Chai, and from looking on the internet they use the typical spices (cinnamon, cardamom, allspice, anise, clove, ginger and nutmeg) and don't contain any weird herbs.

I'm just wondering if things like this could hurt TTC/fertility?

Anyone else drinking Chai?

Hi! Be careful on the ginger, it promotes your period. Sounds tasty :-)

I'm not 100% sure it actually has ginger... the website only lists the spices they use, and says that teas that contain spices may contain "one or all" of the spices.

It is incredibly yummy though... DH got hooked while deployed, they served a lot of chai in Iraq. So he brings it home and now that the weather is getting cold I love it because it smells like Christmas! :)

I love Chai Tea as well. This is a great question, def worth looking into. I am new to TTC. I was unaware of ginger promoting AF. Also something I would like look into. Thanks for the info.

reallistically it wont make the slightest difference.

you'd have to have lots of ginger for it to affect your period, and if that really is the case then surely they wouldnt recommend it in early pregnancy to stop sickness?

Ginger is not recommended to be used in large quantities in first trimester because it is an emmenagogue. It would be more dangerous if you had it every day before an implantation rather than in pregnancy. But it is very likely that two cups of chai a day would not be enough unless someone was sensitive. 3 cups of ginger tea a day would definitely be too much.

I that sounds fine, ginger is such a strong flavor that they probably don't use much in each tea bag. I'd go for caffeine-free if you start drinking more than 2 cups a day though!

Thanks girls!! Yeah, I'm sticking with 2 cups a day... no more (even trying to just do one cup on weekends)! And I'm trying to completely give up soda, though that is a tougher nut to crack!

Some chinese medicine fertility books recommend chai as the spices are good for you. I drink this now instead of coffee as has no caffiene - yum

Chai tea is my absolute favorite thing to drink in the winter. It brings on such a calm and comfy feeling...and it's delish! I say enjoy! :coffee:

bump. Anyone else have any input? I've switched to Chai from regular coffee. I don't drink it every day, but I'll have it several times a week (1 tea bag with about 16 oz water, and 4 oz milk)... thoughts??? I use the tazo chai tea bags.
