I just noticed that most change pads are 32" in length and my table can only fit a 26" pad... Where do I find one? I bought my changing table at Ikea, they do sell a pad to go with it, but it's very cheap, it doesn't even have a belt to keep the baby from falling... I'm all confused now:shrug:

Just wanting to say I've never even seen a changing pad with a belt or anything, and I've changed a lot of bums...so I'd say you'd be fine without one. I've also got a changer that's slightly shorter than normal, and so far only found one changing mat that *might* fit it. It's from a company called babyDan, maybe that'll do for you? Doesn't have a belt though.

Maybe it's a US thing but most of our changing pads have belts, and for good reason...

I've never seen one with a strap on it but maybe you could search eBay or amazon.

I'm not sure if you're in the UK but here I dont think they would allow a strap as I can just imagine a baby being left for a matter of seconds and falling I guess no strap sort of discourage the need to take your eyes off even for a short period of time. X

Just what I was thinking septemberbaby;)

Basically I was looking for something like this:

https://www.toysrus.ca/product/index.jsp?productId=11505689

But it's way too long, and the reviews said the color rubs off...

My only option is that one now:

https://www.ikea.com/ca/en/catalog/products/45568900/

I check babyDan's website but I didn't see any change mats. I'm not even sure they sell in Canada.

I understand about not leaving your baby on the changing table, but being paranoid, I was thinking what if one of us has a heart attack when changing the baby or something lol at least he'd be safe :p

Ikea is made to only fit there own I think... I was going to get the Hensvik changer but decided I'd change baby either on the change mat on my bed (mostly done after a bath) or on the floor of the living room, or on my lap. I doubt I'd ever use a table.
Straps? If baby is big enough to roll I think they'd take the mat with them! Only plastic covered foam where I'm from

You have to screw the mat to the changing table. :)

I have also changed many bums and cannot see the need for a belt on a change pad. I bet it would get in the way and make changing difficult too...might even get soiled with leaky poo or projectile pee. Unhygenic! Yuk!
Change pads are quite light too so I could imagine a baby could just roll off the table strapped onto it. I would leave a baby on a change table at any age for any length of time anyway.

I reckon the IKEA one should be fine.

Just use duct tape on wrists and round torso. Baby won't roll then :haha:

Errrr Americans.....we have some ridiculous safety standards over here
