Changing bottles?

I'm thinking about changing the bottles we use. Currently using Tommee Tippee Closer To Nature bottles but am having some problems with them. Find it really difficult to undo the bottles to put the milk powder in and end up having to take the lid off to get a better grip which is obviously not ideal as then I'm touching the bottom of the teat. Also they are really hard to read cos the markings are just embossed into the plastic and having to wear glasses I just find it incredibly hard. I was thinking of changing over to Avent bottles or Nuk bottles. Any ideas on how we can do this? Or any experience of people who have changed bottles? Thanks x

We changed from CTN too, mainly because even with their anti-colic valve thing, we were having awful problems with Romilly's wind. We tried Breastflow first, then someone recommended Dr Brown's. Tried them, loved them, never looked back. She took to them straight away, no problems, and they've really helped her (top end) wind.

We didn't do anything special to change, just made the switch both times. It didn't seem to cause her any issues. The first couple of feeds, we made sure that we had one of the previous style bottles sterilised, just in case something went wrong, but we never needed it

Good luck :hugs:

I've never really been a fan of them either tbh, the markings are a nightmare to see!

My parents got us some of boots own bottles which are perfectly fine. The Dr Brown teats also fit on them with no props, as do Mothercares x

ETA: We've just switched between bottles and teats in the past and after a couple of uses, she's got the hang of the new ones

I changed from Tommee Tippee CTN bottles to Avent ones when my LO was ten days old, I bloody hated them he used to suck the teats so hard they turned in on themselves - im sure someone knows what I mean.

Also I'd had enough of squinting to see the numbers when filling bottles in the small hours of the morning :haha:

We had no probs switching over but of course your LO is alot older than mine xx

mam bottles are great! we use the anti colic ones and I've also started using the avent bottles I had but with mam teats

I'd definately recommend Avent, the teats are alot more sturdy and my LO is alot happier using them.

The lids are easier to screw on and there a better shape to hold.

purpledaisy I've just noticed your little boy was born on the same day as James :)

I didn't like CTN when Tegan was tiny, but we used them from 6 months to about 12 months. They are OK for older babies IMO but not for younger. We switched to Dr B's and they are great.

I switched from CTN to dr browns as well. I hated to CTN bottles, the markings thing drove me mad, I mean, we're told how important it is to measure the right amounts for baby's formula and one of the biggest selling bottle brands decides to make it practically impossible to see the measuring guide (especially with the steam from the hot water)

The teats on mine used to invert as well, apparently there's something you can do to it to help stop it, but I don't see why we should have to.

I havn't any problems with Brady switching over. I think he hate Tommee Tippee too, o bought some Avent dummies because they were on offer in Asda and now he won't have the TT ones!

My tommee tippee bottles have the marking written on them in black ink and are really easy to read. They are a great shape to hold and the anti colic valves in the teats are great i think too, my LO has had no problems with colic at all.

I like my T CTN bottles but am put off by the fact you can buy differnt flowing teats. Yep Chloe does that sucking thing too!
