Hi

Dd has been on Aptimil comfort since she was about 4 weeks and is now 14wks. Do I need to keep her on comfort or can I change back to normal formula? She was on SMA before and I have a brand new tin plus loads of cartons, and don't know whether to give them away or if I'll use them in the future.

Thanks
xx

My LO has been on the Apitmal comfort since 3 weeks and we have now changed back to the normal stuff to see how he goes

you can stay on it til they are 1, or swap back, if you swap back i was told to do it steadily by aptamil health visitor team. say 1 feed today, 2 2 days later and so on so the tummy adjusts.

I swapped my little fell back after 4 weeks....he has been fab since!!!

When my boy was 12 weeks old I asked my HV and she told me to keep him on comfort.

Once he got to 5 months old, he started getting lots of runny poohs (went from 1 a day to 8 a day) and this went on for 4 weeks. We then swapped him off the Aptamil comfort to the normal stuff, and the nappies went back to normal. Don't know if it was related, but the HV and Doc could not tell me why his nappys had changed so much. I think it was the right time for us to swap back.

My LO went on Comfort when she was 7 weeks old, and we put her back onto regular Aptamil when she was 3 months old. We didn't wean her off it, we just finished the tin and started a regular one straight after; I didn't mix the feed with both types of milk though, i waited until her next feed.

The only thing I would be wary of is taking LO off comfort too soon, i.e. when they are still liable to suffer with colic. They say a baby can suffer with colic up to 3 or 4 months old, so perhaps leave them on it until they're 4 months old. We took her back onto regular at 3 months and she was already over her colic though

We tried at about 6 months to take her off comfort and it was a disaster. So we've gone back to comfort and that is what she will have until she is one. Then I will either go to cows milk or goats milk.

We tried a few weeks ago to come off comfort and it too was a disaster. Sickness and reflux back with a vengeance...poor mite

Thanks for all your replies. :flower:
