Hi im not sure what to do or how to do it but this is situation please give your opinion , my partner has always been known by surname X Which he has always used but technicaly his surname (on birthcertificate ) is Y , so far hasnt been an issue but we did use X On daughters birth certificate which i am regretting as partners new passport, drivers license bank card ect will all be surname Y So would be alot easier if he went by Y Full time but the daughter would have different surname from either of us , so what would you do, would you change daughters surname (she is 3 and hasnt started nursery ect)? Or continue as is ? Anyone know how to change surname and how long it takes ect ? Thanks for reading sorry its a ramble

u can do it by deed poll, takes like 2 weeks i believe

im about to change my surname this way as want to have the same surname as OH and the children

I changed my name by deed poll to match my OH and in preperation of our baby being born. It was really easy. Did it online and it cost £48. It only took a week or so for the paper work to come through. If your other half name on his birth certificate means nothing to him he might as well change it to the one he always uses.
