All of my family are massive cheese heads including me, so as I am hosting Xmas tgis year it's up to me to purchase the cheeses!
A job that I normally love but this year I'm unsure of

I know that I'm not allowed Brie but am I allowed things like apricot Stilton and Wensleydale with cranberries etc?

Keep reading conflicting views online so was wondering what cheeses you ladies will be avoiding this Xmas?

As a massive cheeeese fan myself the only cheesse i have been told to avoid is blue cheese

I was a bit naughty first pregnancy and only avoided blue cheeses and anything unpasturised. I ate Brie etc. as I reckoned as long as it was pasteurised the likelihood of bugs was slim to none. Plus the speed at which it gets eaten in this house means it doesn't even get a chance to fester. That's just me though, and I know many are not comfortable with it.

The way I understand it is that you can eat whatever cheese you want as long as it is pasteurized. When the milk is pasteurized it kills harmful bacteria like listeria. Just read the labels and you should be fine!

I'm in the uk check nhs. I thought you couldn't eat feta but after looking on there it says it's fine

Surely if the cheese board is for you family you have to include a bit of everything,...... and then watch longingly as the devour yummy cheese your not allowed!!

That NHS list looks very good, certainly clears up what we can and cannot eat.

No, all cheese sold in the UK is NOT pasteurised - you just have to check the labels. Sorry!!
