I was approx 5 1/2 weeks pregnant and when I had my HCG levels checked yesterday they were at 15. Super low. I was scheduled to have another blood test tomorrow, but at 3:30am I woke up with horrible cramps and I started bleeding pretty heavy. I called my doctor and I am going in today on my lunch for a check up. My husband and I are TTC our first. This was the first time I've ever been pregnant. I do not know what is normal for a MC this early. But I'm having awful cramps. I took 2 Aleve which normally help my regular AF cramps, but if it's helping...then I'm glad I took them because I'm still in quite a bit of pain. Almost making me naseous. Is this normal and how long can I expect it to last? Any advice or knowledge would be great. Thank you.

So sorry for your loss.....I wish you a speedy recovery and a rainbow baby in your future!

I just had a MMC at 12 weeks 6 days. It started naturally with spotting then on June 4th I woke up with painful cramps (actually felt like contractions as they came every few minutes). It was pretty painful...I had to go on to my hands a knees for a little while just to manage. I bled a ton and passed a few large clots and continued to cramp all that day. On the afternoon of the 5th I had a d&c to be sure that nothing was left behind and I was still bleeding quite heavily. After the d&c all my pain subsided and bleeding lightened significantly. As you can see in my chart I bled/spotted for quite some time. All is well now and I recovered quite quickly.

If you are going to miscarry all naturally then just be sure to keep an eye on your bleeding. Soaking through a pad every 1/2 to and hour for 3 or more hours is considered heavy bleeding and you should see a doctor immediately. Take pain meds when needed to avoid being in too much pain. Showers and baths would probably help as well.

Sending my thoughts to you....Sorry you have to go through this!

I'm on here quite a bit if you just need to chat :)

I'm so sorry for your loss. Earlier this month I had the same thing happen it was heart breaking. I'm also a nurse so I knew that I was defiantly having a miscarriage, but it's not abnormal to have cramps way worse than your normal period and heavy bleeding. That early you might not have clots. My bleeding lasted around 10 days. :( I'm so sorry.

Sending baby dust your way. Your doctor might also tell u to wait before trying again. Just letting u know no research supports that waiting will do anything. Actually it shows the opposite that you are most fetal the 6 months after a miscarriage. Do what you feel is right for u. Try and take it easy. *hugs*

Thank you so much Tmb0047 and swimmyj1. It helps to hear that what I'm experiencing is normal. I did pass a clot this morning. Wasn't super large though, but enough to where I noticed. I'm feeling a bit better today after having some pain medicine to help with the cramping. With me being approx 5 1/2 weeks along my doctor didn't say anything about doing a d & c?? Should I or what exactly would you recommend? I'm not bleeding through tampons, it's more or less like my normal periods are, but just looks a bit different.

If you're not having major bleeding then you should be fine. I was bleeding pretty heavily and I live an hour and a half away from the city so they were worried about sending me home and the bleeding not letting up. It's better to just let your body handle things naturally if possible. Hope you recover quickly!

Do you plan to try again? My DH and I are going to give it a shot if/when my body decides to ovulate. I normally having really long cycles and don't want to waste a shot at a good egg :)

Yes, we are going to try again as soon as possible. My doctor told me to wait until I have my first actual AF and then we can try after that. So just have to wait for this to pass and then that to happen. I'm ready though. I know now that we can get pregnant and even though it makes me really sad we lost this one, it makes me excited to try again.

Hey tmb0047, I noticed we had our angels at the same day. I have long cycles too... are you waiting for AF to come?

Pixie - We are not waiting! I can't stand the thought of wasting an egg. My last baby was conceived on femara and my lost pregnancy was conceived using leftover (not expired) femara from my previous pregnancy. I am now out of femara! Since my last pregnancy we have moved provinces and now my new doctor will not refer me to a fertility specialist for another 6 months. I've got my old doctors sending my records over in hopes to persuade her to refer to earlier! Either way, we plan to TTC naturally, without waiting, in hopes of conceiving without the need for the fertility specialist or drugs....but at least I know once I see the specialist and get femara then we should be good. We know it works for me as I've taken it 3 times and conceived twice!
How about you? How long will you wait? How are you healing and feeling? You were quite a bit further along than I was....

Today I've felt a bit better. I had to take some medicine for the pain earlier in the day. But not too bad of cramps this evening. I've passed several smaller clots today. A little creepy. Can't wait until this process is complete. Just a constant reminder.

Mrs reineke - I hope the bleeding and clots let up. It's a good sign that your body is doing well on its own. I bled/spotting for about 2 weeks after my mmc. Unfortunately, it is a constant reminder of your loss. Hope you heal up quick and get to start working on your rainbow baby :)

Thank you Tmb0047. Still bleeding/clotting today. Still a bit of uncomfortable cramping, but getting a bit better. I am ready to try again. My doctor told me to wait until I have an actual AF before we try again. What did your ladies docs day about that?
