Well, it was going to happen at some point, Logan has chickenpox :dohh: I first noticed suspicious spots on Wednesday and hes not been to nursery since. Hes all right in himself, maybe a bit clingier than normal but the spots dont seem to bother him. Ive read up on when he can go back to nursery and NHS Choices and the nursery themselves say its when all the spots have scabbed over. The big ones have but he has a few pin-prick sized spots which havent. When do you reckon is best to let him back, if your LO had chickenpox how long was it before they could go back to nursery? Im currently training in my job and they are not impressed that I am off, but with no family up here and OH already taken 2 days off work I dont know what else I can do
Thanks in advance :flower:

My LO went back 7 days after the rash started. He wasnt contagous after 5/6 but we wanted to be sure. He also wore long sleeves for the first week back so any spots remaining didnt touch other children. You are both entilted to 5 days unpaid in any job in the uk as 'parental days'

I can't offer any advice I'm afraid, LO hasn't had the dreaded pox yet (it's only a matter of time). I have had to take random days off here and there as, like you, I don't have any family nearby who can come at short notice, they're all a few hours drive away. My work are very good to me though, they understand that I'm essentially a single parent in the week (OH is in the forces and posted away from home just now) so they never make a big deal of it. I'm very luck to have such an understanding employer though.

Thank you for the reply! I work for the NHS so get Carer's Leave which is paid, but my boss said about me taking holiday instead, erm I wouldnt call this a holiday :growlmad: (although I will be making cake later.... :winkwink:) Good idea about the long sleeves, I dont want parents thinking Bear is catchy just because he has spots. Thankfully he has long hair so that covers the ones on his scalp and neck (which, tbh, look a bit gross!).
Im just worried that I will get to nursery tomorrow at 7.30am to be turned away. I think by tomorrow he will be ready to go back, and work will finally have their trainee back! :haha:

Your welcome. to be honest harrys spots havnt totally gone away still! It was most 4 weeks ago. They are fading by the day though and are not actually spots just the shady bits where the spots were iykwim?!

Even though worst case he went to nursery and another LO caught them...they have to get it smetime right?!
