Im in the middle of filling the forms in for child benefit and i know i have to send baby's birth certificate. Im just wondering which one to send as we got the free one and we also paid for the full birth certificate.

Would you send the full certificate or the smaller version?

I think i had to send the full one in but it was 9 years ago and i cant really remember to be honest. More often than not they want the big one. Sorry if i am wrong tho xxx

It doesn't matter which one you send, I sent the small one

The small one for child benefit does the job  Keep the big one for things like passport or opening a bank account (most banks want to see the big one lol)

I sent the big one because someone said I needed to but nowhere on the form or note book does it stipulate. Can I please hijack and ask how long it takes for child benefit to come through? I sent mine off 3 weeks ago and have received the birth certificate back but no word on my claim, any ideas how much longer it'll take?

You can send the short version :)

I sent our claim on the 20th Feb and recieved a payment on Thursday (a backpayment for the part week he was born in) and the rest will be going in next Weds as per usual.

You can defo send the short versions..I did. You don't actually have to have the longer version. Round here you have to pay for it if you want it.

ETA: Mine took about 2 weeks to be sorted out.
