I am thinking of going back to work after ML in November and both mine and DH's employer offer the Childcare Vouchers.
What I want to know is, can you both claim or only 1 of you?

Both of you can claim, but it can only total of £243 per child per month

tax credits will pay 80% of child care costs if you go through them, i had the choice of getting vouchers off my employer or tax credits to pay - it worked out better for me if they paid the 80% give them a ring and ask x

I thought you could do both?! are they not two seperate things? it's irrelevant to me anyway coz I wont get child care help from tax credits coz I work too much (ironic huh?) :growlmad:

I still dont understand how child care tax credits work! - but we are not entitled to any of it paid, and we both only have average in comes:shrug:

We're not entitled to any help with childcare costs so doing vouchers. I'm applying for the full £243 a month and according to the calculator will be £75 a month better off. Better than a slap in the face.

both you and your husband can claim the vouchers and you both can claim the maximum amount of £243.

My work also offers childcare vouchers and I was under the impession that the money they pay for childcare for you is taken out of you wages, is this correct?

the money is taken out BEFORE tax, so in a way it saves you money.

I calculated that with the vouchers were better than CTC. Mainly as even though for childcare its about £170 a week here I would get £10 towards it - thats it!
