Chosen Hospital

Hey

Quick question once you have chose the hospital you wish to give birth in can you change your mind and go somewhere else instead?

I got a choose of 5, i chose mine then all the staff and midwifes at the hospital keep saying why didn't you choose the other one its much nicer and cleaner so now they've changed my mind and i wanna go to the one there suggesting and plus its a lot closer.

You can change your mind - my friend changed from the hospital to the midwife led centre with no problems. Just give you midwives a ring or let them know at your next appointment x

OOOh - Becxta - just noticed you're in Lichfield. I'm booked in at Samuel Johnson and know some people who've given birth there - one just 2 months ago. Go have a look round if you want but it 's really nice. They have private rooms, birthing pools if you wanted, it's lovely and quiet and you have your scans there too.

Only just seen this message cus my internet has been down for a while, iv heard its really nice at samuel johnson, and apparently its a better experience. iv rang my doctors to let them no i want to change but still nt heard anything from my midwife but fingers crossed next time i see her she will be ableto swop it for me.

Not sure they could stop you - it's part of the patient choice. I'm almost sure that with this directive from the NHS you are entitled to go wherever you want.

I'm booked in there and hopefully as long as my 34 week scan shows my placenta has been stretched out of the way I'll be getting my water birth in a lovely private room.

Just thought - have you got your 25 week appt booked yet? It's only that I didn't realise myself until I rang them that you need to ring your gp's surgery to book it in with her as they won't contact you.

yer im booked in for the 13th. i see my midwide at my gp's surgery so dont no if that will help, but ill just have to ask when i see her next week, she is rather grumpy though so not sure how helpful she will actually be!!!
