So LO is going to be 17months at christmas.. and right now shes into everything shes not supposed to be and doesn't understand the word NO!!! So I'm dreading the christmas tree... I'm thinking of just putting the small vibarotic(SP?) tree up instead of the actual tree this year.. or do u think she'll be better by christmas? Any tips!? :flower:

We are going to see how Kayleigh does with it. We get a real big one at Christmas and we will be strapping it to the wall somehow of course. I am going to put the shatterproof ornaments on the bottom area and if she keeps at it too much my friend has a big octagon folding baby gate she said we could use.
Eeeeeek I want it up now! hahaha

We'll be using the playpan as a room divider and sectioning teh tree off from it. I've planned it since last year lol. I am VERY OTT with my tree - The tree corner is teh tree corner all year and nothing but a toy box is allowed to go there. I can't let ANYONE else help decorate etc it and it has to be just so. I'm a tree snob and a perfectionist lol xx

When we were little my Dad would get a smaller tree, about 5ft, and put it on a table and cover the table with pretty fabric or paper. So the tree would be too high for us to reach but it still looked nice and Christmassy :)

We worried about this last year.

She never really bothered with it :D

Just going to put it in the corner like last year, he pulled it down a few times but hoping this year he will leave it alone more. We will properly make a few paper decorations that are his for him to hang on it

We have a gate around our living room so I think we'll probably put it outside the gate so he can't get to it. Otherwise I'm sure he'd have it down on a daily basis :haha:

We put the tree up as normal, and just persevered with telling Abbie "no" and taking her away from it if she tried to play/dismantle it. Our method has always been leave everything as it is (so we didn't move ornaments etc off lower tables) and teach her not to touch, rather than changing everything and her never having to learn that some things aren't for her to play with. Not saying that's the right thing to do - it's just our way!

emily kept taking the stars and singing
twinkle twinkle little star all bloody day

oh and pinching the chocolates and sweets
off the tree too

and opening the mini crackers

and pushing it over

you get jist, last year was great fun

:dohh:

 I am really glad for the baby gate now.. LOL I hope we don't need it though.

the amount of times i went to the loo and
came back to a pile of decorations on the floor
with a smiley emily throwing the baubles across
the room was ridiculous, i had to re-do it about
50 times

Last year at 10 months Myles didn't give a hoot, not so sure this year though!

Emma was 18 months last christmas & I was imagining it being a nightmare....it wasn't at all! Go for it!

I could have written this word for word! i have spent alot of money on my tree and it hs to be perfect, i will tweak until all baubles are equally spaced apart, and i cant have tinsel, i HATE it!!

I think im going to put it in my bedroom :p or hope emily understand and listens when i say no, bless her

i don't put tinsel on either, makes it look
untidy imo

I hate tinsel aswell. I still live with my mum and shes a total perfectionist with our tree.. I'm actually dreading her moaning about LO touching it more then I am about her actually touching it lol. x

If i do tinsel it has to be equally soaced apart, and pushed into the tree so it doesnt look scruffy, we actually had tinsel last year according to a picture i have, where the tinsel is pushed back and it doesnt look too bad

Tiarnan was 13 months when we put up our first tree and by Christmas only the top half was decorated. The next year at 25 months we only had to tell a few times a day not to touch and it finally sunk in. He is going to be a big help with keeping Cormac out of it this year.
