Ladies with boys... My son is 6 months old. His circumcision looked completely normal to me the first month. But after that, the extra skin left behind half covers the head of the penis. Both my OB and pediatrician have told me this is completely normal and he will essentially grow into it. but I'm so obsessed over it bc none of my friends sons have that much skin left over. So I'm just hoping for some reassurance here. And if anyone knows when I can expect him to start "growing" into it?? Thanks ladies :) here's a pic of my beautiful happy and healthy baby boy.

I would say that it is a good thing - I think doctors are nowadays often more generous with leaving growing room to minimise the risk of grown men having tight, painful erections (can also be a risk of the shaft skin actually splitting from not being accomodating enough...!), as this can definitely be a problem if too much skin is removed. Tight circumcisions can also lead to pain for women during and after sex.

I would absolutely leave it as is :) Not to mention, if he grows up and wants to restore his foreskin, it would benefit him to have some slack.

PS - he is a real cutie <3

Thanks so much for your response (and the compliment ;) I wish I could stop being so paranoid about it, but I'm not going to have it cut again. Thanks again for the reassurance!

I have been feeling the same exact way. My son is 8 months and it looks like he wasn't even circumcised. The pediatrician told me the same thing they told you. I keep feeling like they will have to redo it when he is older. I sure hope not. I'm glad to hear other responses to this though. Thanks

You're welcome on both counts :) It will be totally fine. My little boy is almost 6 now and not circumcised (it's not really something that people do here in New Zealand) and has never had any issues, so I promise that any residual foreskin won't cause any problems! It can only be a good thing in terms of accomodation for as he grows.
