Circumcision?

No way. I still can't believe how common it is in other countries! The stories of how uncircumcised men can get all sorts of infections and not be able to clean themselves properly are ridiculous. They actually made me laugh! Some people will believe anything just to make them feel ok about putting their baby through something like that!
I also can't believe how much this is still done without anaesthetic. Absolutely disgusting. I'd like to see the parents have a piece of themselves chopped off without pain relief and see if it hurts them, then maybe they'd change their minds!
These threads always get nasty :nope:

If you have a boy, will you get him circumcised?

I personally will not due to the research I have done. Just wondering what your thoughts are on the subject and whether you'll have it done or not?

No, but the research about HIV really made me wondered if I should have?

The thing about HIV made me wonder how many circumcised men relied on it giving them some sort of protection and then they contracted it anyway? I know many men hate using condoms but I don't understand how anyone circed or not can hate them so much that they'd rather play such a Russian Roulette with their lives?! Surely what needs to be done is better education and not just relying on having no foreskin?

After the research, it seems logical to do....a 60% less chance of contracting HIV? yep...that pretty much sold me.

https://www.medicinenet.com/circumcision_the_medical_pros_and_cons/article.htm

If anyone's curious read that.

A 60% less chance of contracting HIV if having unsafe sex. We could always teach our children about protecting themselves instead, and reduce the risks of them contracting HIV by 99% instead.

We could reduce the odds of baby girls contracting HIV as adults by cutting off their labia too (stands to reason, remove the amount of exposed mucous membranes of the genitals, same as circumcision).

Why do we not do that?

It seem just about every man have unsafe sex (or condom went wrong).. or we would have a lot less babies being born. I wonder how much it help?

no.. unless it was for medical reasons.. i wouldnt consider having any of my children circumcised.. i dont see the point in removing something god gave you for no real reason.. causing pain and discomfort for no reason.. IMO a medical condition should be the reason for all circumsisions.. i know of a boy whose mother got hes removed and he later got an infection and there wasnt a reason medically to put him through it.. sorry for going on lol put to conclude no i wouldnt :) xxx

I respect every parents right to choose what they want here but I do want to share a story.

I work in nursing, specifically with alzheimers patients. I had one gentleman who had to have the majority of his penis removed because he wasn't circumcised. He had been cared for by family before I met him and when they took him to wash they assumed he cleaned everywhere. It didn't occur to them that he simply no longer knew that he was supposed to clean down there or even how to. So he got a very serious infection.

So while I hope no one ever has to deal with this I just like to remind people that just because a boy properly cleans doesn't mean there aren't situations where a circumcision would prevent a lot of pain.

I am sorry, but I really, really hate stories like this. This is fear mongering at its best. And if you look at the results, you will see that the majority of Americans are having it done, were Europeans dont, it is funny you dont hear these stories in the UK often. Oh, and I am an American. do what you like, but it is unneeded unless there are medical conditions in which it is needed. Everyone should make an informed decision, do your research and then come to the conclusion that is best for you and your family. But dont let fear rule you. GL!

From My experience, doctors will show you how the properly clean a uncircumcised because it is true, it does get infected. doctors will tell you it can get infected. I think UK probably knew how to care for it because it is common. In American, we are used to circumcised penis so those who are uncircumcised probably have been neglecting their penis, or probably didn't know about it. I have to remind my son how to care for his. So far, so good.

I'm doing it if I have a boy, and this is why: My dad and my brothers were not circumcised. When I was pregnant last time (though I had a girl), I asked their opinions. They all agreed that if they go a day without showering or if they sweat a lot, they get a lot of irritation. My brother told me that he wishes our parents did have him circumcised. Sure, he can go have it done any time, but what adult man wants to deal with the pain and not being able to use it? Also, as a woman, I personally think that being with a man who isn't circumcised is.. well.. nasty. My husband is circumcised he said he would absolutely not want it any other way.

I had an ex who got an infection from the circ.. Being done, due to this, he ended up needing surgery to clean it out. Has a ugly ass scare, when he's erectic the scare sometimes causes pain. Also, his uretha hole ended up being larger so he had to sit to pee. Sound like fun?

I cant believe it still goes on  i think its actually barbaric! unless its for medical reasons,i think the body is beautiful as it is.

I'm unsure if we will or not. I am very much against it. My husband, who was circumcised for cultural reasons when he was 16, is oddly enough for it.

He thinks (and is probably right) that it won't hurt the baby nearly as much as it hurt him. But to me, it's not about the level of pain, it's about the fact that this is an individual human being who has a right to decide if and how he wants to modify his body.

Trust me (as someone who has been with and seen a lot of penis, both cut and uncut), it's not nasty, it's natural. No nastier than a man being with a woman with natural, unmodified labia.

Besides with the skin covering the penis or uretha, they can get more dirt and grime in their uretha than someone uncut. Sure everyones all cuts cleaner, but even cut guys can have nasty penis and infections because of hygine really. All comes down to education and learning hygine! That's it really.

Oh, and for those who have been saying that uncircumcised penises are gross... the cultural norms in America are changing. It's about 57% circumcised vs 43% non-circumcised for newborns now. So chances are, when your son is older, an uncircumcised penis won't be anything earth-shattering for his partners.

how?!

I'm pretty sure the whole point of the foreskin is to protect the penis from dirt and injury. I don't see why an uncut penis would be "nastier" than a cut one.

Anyway, my gelding has his foreskin. It's never seemed to bother him any, and he's almost thirty. Why would it be different for a human? I'm fairly certain my child will have better hygiene than my horse. :haha:

I think she meant that they "cant" at least I hope that is what she meant, because if not it is completley wrong. The foreskin keeps the head of the penis lubricated, and clean.

Also wanted to add about the HIV stat, please, read the statistic. This applies to men in Zimbabwe Africa, not Western Europe, or the US. Dont quote me on this, because my stats may not be correct, but 70%+ of the people infected with HIV are from Africa, which leaves about 30% of the WORLDS population live outside of Africa. The WHO recommends men in AFRICA to be circed because their instance of contracting HIV is so high. This is not true of the rest of the world. So when people throw around this statistic, they need to know where it comes from and what and who it is pertaining to.

i just dont see the point if theres no medical reason thats my opinion though..

I assure you, there isn't anything nasty about it!

No, never.
And I must say, this is very very civil compared to some circ topics I've seen on BnB in the past :haha:
