Hello Mommies to be!!! Was just wondering if anyone has used the clearblue monitor? If so what is your take on it? Hubby and I have been trying for 6 months now and have not conceived yet. Been :sex: when we get a high fertility sign, not sure what to do, starting to worry:shrug:

Hi Chellet, I haven´t used that one, I buy strips online because it works out much cheaper. But don´t worry I know six months seems an age but you only have a small possibility of getting pregnant each cycle, i think it is 15% after 35, (but if I´m wrong someone will correct me hopefully) so it can take a while. My last pregnancy took me 7 months and since losing that one I´m on cycle 9 now and still no sign. But I have faith it will happen one day. Keep doing what your doing and don´t worry till you pass a year. Are you temping or charting? if not might be worth doing that until you know what your body is up to. Go to fertility friend for more info on that and good luck.

Hi
if you are over 35 and in the UK, it's worth having a chat with your GP about some initial tests.
GPs should run som esimple tests ovulation, bseline hormones, sperm sample etc after 6 months

but I agree with Natsby that over 35 the odds per month go down and 15% chance per cycle is quoted for healthy couples.

lots of luck and :dust:

I have one...I don't really care for it as the test strips are 3x more expensive than a normal POAS OPK and 10x more expensive than the Dip Stick OPK.

The monitor does the same exact thing an OPK does except you have to POAS during the time you set it up for or the monitor won't read it [Set it for 6am, you can't test at 4pm]

IMO it's not worth the money it costs to use it. Regular OPKs give you the same thing except there's not a picture on a screen [you have to manually read your test...oh boo...lol]

I wouldn't ever waste my money on it again. The monitor is like $150 and the tests are $40 per box. Actually, just thinking about what a waste it is makes me a little mad. lol

Do you track your Basal Body Temperature of fertilityfriend.com? I get a better view of my cycle through temping than I do through OPKs.

Good Luck!

Temping and charting taught me sooo much about my body. I would like a CBFM though. I love gadgets. They just seem so expensive!

I have been thinking about trying a duo fertility monitor but they are REALLY expensive. But my friend has one and it takes your bbt all the time and when you dock it in the computer it tells you if you are ovulating and send the info back to a team of specialists. You can call them anytime and they analyze the data to see what the problem might be. They told her she isn´t producing enough of one hormone needed to keep the pregnancies and none of her other tests had picked up on that. But then I have been trying for nearly two years and lost 2 pregnancies so I´m a bit more desperate now. I agree temping really helps you know your cycle, give it a go if you haven´t already.

Thank you ladies, I am a newbie here and I am so thankful to be able to talk to other woman about my concerns, hubby doesn't get it and friends/family have personal opinions. I will check out temp charting and save my $ for future baby stuff!!!!!:)

good deal. lol.
Check out fertilityfriend.com. That's the site I use and it's free for the basic package plus there are three videos that you can watch that explain to you everything that you'll ever need to know about charting.

The only advice I'll give is make sure that you are taking your temp first thing in the morning before you talk, move, or groan. BBT is your bodies temperature after at least 3 consecutive hours of rest. Any other time of day your temp fluctuates too much to get a clear reading. The first couple days are hard if you're not used to it, but after about a month it just becomes second nature.

I don't even think about it anymore, it's just part of my daily routine now. On ebay, you can get a BBT thermometer and like 25 OPKs for $3.00 with free shipping. So it's not a bad deal. You can also buy a BBT thermometer at any drug store.

Good Luck!

Natsby the DUO monitor sounds excellent.

I have a clearblue monitor and have to say it really is worth the money. you can get one quite cheap on ebay (if its been used all you have to do is reset it according to the instruction booklet). it worked for me (sadly had an early loss) & so many others. i think it takes the guess work out of trying to decipher OPK's. the test sticks are also less expensive if bought online and after the first cycle you generally don't need more than 10 sticks per month (even less sometimes).

Good luck all !!

Hello, I have used the fertility monitor but I have switched over to the strips. Keep trying for another 6 months and then see a fertility specialists.
