Well as some of you will know I have a VERY clingy little miss. She will cry if I even leave the room.
So heres my dilemma...Ive been ill for weeks now and Im just generally exhausted and feeling crappy.2 weeks ago my in-laws were going to have Ophelia for the night for me but brought her back at ten because she was crying so much she was sick :(
This weekend my SIL has offered to have Ophelia for Saturday night.I really could do with the break.I know normally when she goes somewhere Ophelia will cry for a bit but then settle down and be fine for the rest of the stay. But I dont know if I should let her go if she's getting so upset.Am I being mean? Will this help her be less clingy and used to people or just make it worse?
Opinions pleeeeeeaaaaase?xxxxx

just let her go. I would. Even if she screams for a while at least you get a break from it. I have a very clingy baby at the moment omg, how I wish someone would take him off my hands for a bit!

i would let her go, it will be better in the long run, maybe it will help her to be less clingy

Thanks guys,I really needed to hear that :hugs:
Bethanylee,I hope both of our little clingers grow out of this phase soon because its haaard and exhausting!xx

indeed! I was talking to the HV about it today and she was just like 'yeah it's a phase, you need to ride it out'. I felt like screaming 'I know it's a phase but you try living with him at the moment!!!' Fingers crossed for their moods to improve soon :hugs:

Ellie is starting to get clingy already. Benn was really really clingy but its normal and they to grow out of it. I used to get really fed up with it but like my mom said to me im his world his been with me since day one of course his going to be clingy it kinda helped me seeing it from benns point of view.

I would let her go, the way i look at it is you have to put up with it 24/7 and if someone is offering to have baby for a night then its only one night to them and a break does us all the world of good. xxxx

Honestly, I wouldn't.. but apparently I have some attatchment issues of my own

I would let her go... and maybe start letting her go to places for shorter periods of time too.

Let her go. She has to learn that she can't be attached to your side 24/7 and the sooner she learns the better x

Personally I wouldn't be happy letting my child go to someone for the night. They are taken away from the person who they feel comfortable with and at the same time taken away from their comfortable environment. The two together might just be a bit much!

Can you not have someone come stay with you for a night. That way your LO will be in her happy space, and you can close your door and get some much needed sleep.

P.S I'm know i'm a little paranoid, not saying that people who do let their LO's sleep out are wrong, its just not something I can do. I worry too much that he will wake up in the middle of the night and I'm not there and he will then feel very insecure.

I think if its someone your baby knows and you trust then go for it. I have two friends both with babies (well toddlers now) around the same age. One is still really clingy at nearly three and rarely spends anytime away from her mum but the other is much less clingy and more sociable. It does depend on the child though.

I left Oscar with my mum for three hours while my OH and I enjoyed valentines day at the allotment and she had to call me back because he was screaming. I am worried he is getting used to only settling for me and so I leave my OH to do it sometimes even if it takes longer cause he gets upset.

.

Unfortunately thats not really an option. My sister-in-law has 2 kids of her own and I definitely dont think she would be up for the idea of all three of them sleeping on my sofa!
Plus,I'd still wake up when Ophelia woke up xxxx
