Hello ladies i just wanted some advice really.

I have been referred back to my gynae consultant after 6 months of clomid. It's the same consultant who diagnosed me with PCOS & endometriosis in July 2008.

It has been a month since my referral was sent and I'm still waiting for my appointment:dohh: What I'd like to know is what can I expect as the next step treatment wise? My GP mentioned Ovarian drilling but i am not so keen as I've not heard of it working for anybody....plus it sounds horrific! Any idea what could be next for me ladies?

The waiting is killing me because i honestly don't have a clue what could be next. I thought that clomid would be all it would take.....:nope:

xxxx:flower:

hi hun clomid also failed for me as well she said my options would be ovarian driling or injections depending on the results when she scans my ovaries i know some one who got preg after ovarian drilling :) or theres anthoer tablet femara i think its called x

your wellcome hun i suffer from pcos as well sorry clomid didnt work for you i renmebr how i felt when it didnt for me as i had a positive ovulation test so thought i had ovulated and bloods showed totally diffrent :( x

Stimulated cycles, injections, with IUI would be another option. Ovarian drilling can work but from what i have seen it fails more than succeeds and only had effect for six months before you ovaries go back to normal.

just curious... were you seeing an RE on clomid? if not, you really should have been.

Excuse my ignorane bu what is an RE? My GP prescribed me the Clomid and is now referring me to my gynae consultant for further treatment. I didn't have any monitoring with my Clomid even though i asked for it. Apprently they don't offer it on the NHS unles it's through the hospital you're under. My GP is also a retired gynae consultant who ran the local PCOS clinic at my locla NHS hospital so he's pretty good in that respect.

An RE is a fertility specialist. I HIGHLY recommend being monitored on clomid. I honestly see no point in taking clomid if you're not going to be monitored. 1- you have no idea how your body is responding to the clomid (how do you know if it's working or if the dosage needs to be upped) and 2- they warn you of the side effects of taking clomid so i would think that you wouldn't want to take it unless it works. ;)

Hello

I have had 9 months of 50g Clomind and am on 1000g Met a day.

I wasnt monitored byt had regular 21 bloods which confirmed ovulation on every cycle. I also temp which confirmed ovulation also.

I have now been referred for IUI.

I am kinda with Ali and think you should be monitored while on clomid. The clomid didn't work for me some months until day 20 or 21 so a 21 day blood test for me would have shown I didn't ovulate when in fact I was either about to ovulate or just ovulated.

As far as what to do next you have several options...however, I think before anything else you should have your SO do a semen analysis (if he hasn't done one already). This is very important. If your SO has issues, the clomid (or any meds) by themselves won't do you much good. Maybe next you can go see an RE or FS (Reproductive Endocronologist or Fertility Specialist) and they can put you on some injectibles and do an IUI...before all that though they may make you do a laproscopy (surgery where they find out how bad your endometriosis is). IF that doesn't work you may have to move onto IVF.

If you do have your blood test at day 21 and it confirms ovulation then that is great...that shows you are ovulating as you should on clomid. FOr me, personally, I just wanted to see how the clomid was working in my body instead of going in blind.

Hope this helps!

Thanks for all the replies :flower:
I have now seen my consultant (the same one who diagnosed me in 2009) and I am now awaiting my second Laparoscopy to have ovarian drilling. I have a healthy BMI (24-25) and I am Clomid resistant so this is the best next step for us. My consultant was very very optimistic and said i was the perfect candidate for the procedure.

Also, my husband had his little fella's analysed in January and they are very very good! My Dr said that "the whole of the UK could get pregnant from just one ejaculation" which made us both go bright red! We are both a healthy and young I just unfortunately have PCOS as it runs in my family. I didn't acquire it, my PCOS is genetic. Damn my genes & my ovaries hehehe. I am feeling very positive now as I am due to have my operation in 4-6 weeks. I feel so positive that I can really see myself being successful very soon :happydance:

nice to see someone hopefull, you are still very young you will get there time is on your side... good luck x

Hi Becks88, I was also on Clomid for 7 months and nothing happened, Saw new fertility MD in Feb and he put me on Metformin 500mg TID for PCOS, Femeria from day 3 to day 11, HCG injection to trigger ovulation, ( well I was having vaginal ultrasound for close monitoring starting from day 3- then again close to ovulation with blood work) since I am from Canada everything all monitoring was free)and then Permitorium from day of ovulation to day 28, if pregnant continue to take till week 12 otherwise stop at day 28, and AF will come, I got pregnant with first cycle, ended as blighted ovum in may, got pregnant again on 2nd cycle in July, saw healthy heartbeat at 6 week and again 8.2 week, I am married for 12 years and was not ouvulating all those years.........good luck to you

Hi all, hope you dont mind me joining :)

I also had clomid resistance to a extend. I was on 3 months clomid ranging from 50mg to 100mg in the beginning of the year, however not even a folicle started to grow. My FS then suggested Ovarian drilling and I had to consider it. After another 3 or so months of trying naturally and very long cycles, we decided OD is the way to go. I had my op on the 1st of June 2011 and had a unmedicated cycle for the first one which was 40days, since then i have been on clomid 50mg again and it has helped me to O earlier now on CD15, which is great!!! So somehow the OD has managed to break the Clomid resistance and it is working.

There an amazing support group for girls that had OD on here, go check it out

Anyhow, good luck with your op and hope you get your BFP very soon afterwards!

Hi ladies,

i hope you dont mind me butting in too lol ive had 3 cycles of clomid highest at 150mg and they all failed to make me OV so my gynae booked me in for OD and a lap + dye!! i have it next tuesday :happydance: EEEEEEKKKKK!! so scared and nervous

good luck and babydust to you all x x x :dust:

Hi, I'm on Femara, an HCG injection and a drug called LDN. The femara and LDN are supposed to help with endo symptoms and help boost ovulation etc. I have been prescribed them privately as NHS wise we are unexplained. This will be our first month of trying after starting the meds two months ago.

I also had to pay to have follicle tracking done which basically showed that the femara was working and the 2nd one showed I had in fact ovulated. PM me if you want any more info
