Hi

I have PCOS but after having tests done, we know I do ovulate.
I'm waiting for my period so I can start Clomid, taking it on days 2-6.

My question is, if we know I'm ovulating already, what will clomid do for me?

Also, and this might be a thick question sorry. But I get really bad pains, taking pain relief (feminax) won't affect clomid will it?

:witch: will def be here within two days, my boobs are soo sore.

I'm so so so scared I will never get pregnant and never have a baby. I've been trying so hard to be positive but I can't stop crying

Hi hun,

I hope I can offer you some comfort hun! I know how you feel but please don't give up!

Just to put it all in context, I have been TTC for 3 and a half years - had all tests and they have concluded we have unexplained infertility. The fact that you are ovulating is great and if there is no male infertility factor, clomid will increase the chance of you getting pg. After 3 years of TTC and only 1 cycle of clomid I got pg! Sadly this ended in a mc! Taking clomid (2-6 50ml) will simply increase the number of follicles your produce. Not sure if you have seen my other thread put clomid has made me produced 7 follicles this cycle (2nd cycle of clomid) - this is not normal! Usually you will get 2 or 3! I am having follicle tracking - have they mentioned this to you?

Clomid does have side effects so try taking it in the evening before you go to bed.

Wishing you lots of luck

Kel xx

PS. Private message me if you have other questions hun!

Thanks so much hun, will add you as a friend if that's okay?

Sorry for you loss :hugs:

O.h s.a came back really good so that side of things are good.

xx

Thank you :)

Great news that your partners SA came back good! I am sure the clomid will be the little boost you need. I know it is easy after LTTTC to feel really negative about everything..but there are so many success stories! Fingers crossed xxxx

Big :hugs: Thank you

As for the follicle tracking, I think thats what I'm having. On the first day of af I need to ring the fs and ask for a clomid test.

I'm really sorry if I'm being thick, but when you mention having 7 follicles, is it bad to have 7 instead of 2-3 or is it a good thing?
I thought I was pretty clued up on all this but now I just feel like a don't know anything :dohh:

It sounds like that is what you will be having hun :hugs:

As for 7 follicles being bad or good... it would be great if I was going for IVF and having my eggs collected but given my DHs SA is fine 7 follicles would be quite risky in terms of multiple pg. Yesterday I had 2 that were very mature at 25mm and another at 14mm (and four other smaller ones). They generally say your follicles need to be 17mm to produce eggs and your lining 7.5mm.

I have decided to try this month anyway....although offically I have been advised not to!

The more follicles you have, the graeter chance of getting pg but also the higher the chance of multiple pg! After 3 1/2 years I will take anything now!

I'd quite like twins :D

How do the test how many follicles you have and the thickness of your lining? Does it hurt basically :haha:

Sorry for all the questions! :flower:

GL then hun :hugs:

Hi hun,

You will have an internal ultrasound scan.... it doesn't hurt at all. I'm such a 'wuss' so would tell you if it did. It is strange you see your ovaries on the screen. Usually it lasts about 5 mins but I was there longer yesterday as I had so many follies lol :P They also get the thickness of your lining from the same scan.

Don't need to apologise for the questions...that is what these forums are for :)

Ah, so is it like the pelvic scan that they do before giving us clomid? The camera on a stick thing as I call it lol

hi Scamp & Dizzi,

Yay that I found you girls. I feel like I am in your boat (sort of). While I haven't been trying as long, we are just starting to investigate things. I definitley ovulate on my own (I think) and have a really regular cycle. They started me on 100mg of Clomid this month, simply to check my ovarian reserve--I also had an ultrasound on CD2, which showed 9 follies on one ovary and 7 on the other. I don't know if that is good or bad. My lining was 6 mm, which she said seemed on the thick side--again, good or bad--no clue.

I'm hoping maybe the clomid gives me the extra boost I need :) If not, lots more tests to come. Don't have hubby's SA results, so that is obviously a big piece of the puzzle. Hopefully he is all good.

And Dizzie...wow, you may be the next Octomom!! :) Can't wait to hear how this cycle goes for you.

Also, forgot to mention, they are monitoring this cycle for me too. I go back on CD10 to have a 2nd ultrasound. They want to be sure I'm not making too many follicles. Maybe I will make two and get preggo with twins! :) I also have to take an ovidrel trigger shot when they tell me, to induce ovulation and time intercourse.

Dizzie, did you take ovidrel yet?

I do have to say the side effects of clomid suck. My worst is hot flashes.

Hiya Scamp, how u doing? I was gonna inbox u but I can't figure out how to do it from my phone! Glad to see you are starting the clomid soon! I took my first round with no problems apart from a couple of hot flashes in the night! Got my day 21 results today which showed I defintely ov'd and my levels are ok! Am in the 2ww now but not feeling hopeful as got no symptoms! :( Im not getting scanned for follies and the dr's never give much info so I have no idea what happens next! I guess I have to ask for more clomid if I'm not pg but who knows!! GL with the clomid!

Hey hun,
I'm ok thanks, how are you?
I'll keep my fx for you :hugs: Hopefully I won't get many side effects but honestly I don't mind if I do.
How many cycles worth did you get?
xxx

They just gave me one to start with as they have to check it worked, so I'm hoping if i'm not pg they'll give me a couple of months worth but I can only have 3 cycles before I have to have the dye thingy!

Hi Minnie,

It is great that they have already started the ball rolling with the investigations. Better to get the whole picture early on and then they can get you started on the best treatment. It will be interesting what your CD10 scan shows.... what CD did they start you on clomid?

Fingers crossed that DHs SA is positive and it is just a case of clomid to get everything working.

I did clomid on CD3-7. I had my bloods drawn this morning to recheck my FSH levels. I also have an HSG today at 12:30-to check my tubes. This place is very thorough--they require you do all the diagnostic tests before they try to "diagnosis" you, which I like. Of course it is a bit expensive, but I'd rather spend the money now, and hopefully shorten the journey to getting pregnant.

Good luck this month!! I think you may just end up getting pregnant with twins! :)

What is it you have to pay for hun?

How did you find the hsg?

I'm still waiting for af, damn thing needs to hurry up lol. Boobs are aching really bad, even hurt when I walk so I know she'll be here soon!

xxx

I have to pay for all of it--bloods, ultrasounds, HSG--everything they are doing this month. That is how healthcare works here :( It is great care, but very expensive. I have insurance, but it doesn't really cover most of this.

Hope the witch shows soon for you! Well, if you know you for sure are not pregnant :) Otherwise, I hope she doesn't arrive!
