Afternoon Ladies,

I have ben ttc for 2.5 years.
Lots of tests along the way included, blood tests, external scan internal scans, HSG, Lap and Dye (Sep 11)
Possible causes for not concieving, low thyroid and endo.
DH - all good

Have just been prescribed Clomid, but I do ovulate on my own so was just wondering if anyone has been presecribed Clomid in similar circumstances.

Due to go for a scan next to see if I am ovulating and not too many eggs. Have been told not to try this month

I am up for trying anything if I get my BFP!!!!

Thanks

Hey pinkangel, I'm in a similar situation. I was also ovulating on my own and have been prescribed clomid. I have mild endo but my thyroid is fine. My new doc found that while I don't have PCOS I do I have polycystic ovaries. At first this didn't make sense to me either, why am I being given clomid if I already ovulate? My doc's explanation was that due to the PCO, the reason why I haven't gotten prego in the past 2 years is because my eggs may not be forming correctly and clomid will help with that. So hopefully his theory is correct. Right now I just started the 2ww of round 2.

The only thing I've found odd is that they told you not to try this month...what's the theory behind that one?

Have been told not to try incase of multiple eggs!

It is quite frustrating really as couldn't try before lap, couldn't try after as the timing was all wrong and then if I can't try this month! Ahhhhhh!

I thought when I go for scan I would ask lots of questions and ask them if they can see how many follicles/eggs there are, if there is 1 or 2 I am going to try.

Have you had many side effects as from scanning some of the posts lots of people do/have. I don't think I have had any?? DH may disagree with irratability!

I mainly gotten moodiness from the clomid and then I was tired and a little weepy from the trigger shot. Other then that, not too bad. I had the worst side effects from the vaginal progesterone, once i stopped taking it cause i got a BFN, i had the worst mood for 4 days. I wanted to kill everyone. I hope i get a BFP this month just so i don't have to go through that again.

If I was you I would definitely ask how many mature follicles there are (my doc said 17 and above) and make your own decision. Don't tell them your decision as they will try to talk you out of it. I would probably try up to 3 follicles, cause the chances of all 3 getting fertilized and implanting are slim. Even with clomid, even though a lot of women get multiple follicles, the chance of twins is 10% and the chance of more then that is about 1%. But like i said, that's just me, and i'm desperate and crazy at this point.

I'm in a similar situation too. We actually haven't been trying long (this was my 5th cycle), but I ended up coming over to the LTTTC boards when someone posted about the "Clomid Club" thread in the TTC section.

At my yearly check-up in October, I mentioned to my OBGYN that I noticed that I have a shortish luteal phase and always spot 3-4 days before AF comes. I was lucky enough that she listened to me and we ran a progesterone test. My 7 dpo levels were 7, which indicate I'm ovulating, but should still be over a 10. She put me on 50 mg of clomid CD 3-7 to give me a "stronger" ovulation.

I finished my first round about a week ago and had a CD 13 scan (the day after I had my LH surge) and sadly I don't think it worked. I had multiple follicles on my left side but most were small. Only two were around 14 mm but need to be closer to 20 mm. Since I do ovulate, I'm thinking this means that I probably released an egg that's not mature enough to be fertilized. I'll know more when I talk to my doc later this week and go for progesterone levels.

I am terrified of having multiples, but I don't know what else to do. It seems highly unlikely I will get pregnant on my own at this rate.

I forgot to add that in my case, I have not been diagnosed with anything - not PCOS or endo etc. I've always had normal paps, AF is regular since coming of BC and have had a few transvaginal ultrasounds over the years (including yesterday) and all have always been normal. My yearly blood work including thyroid tests always normal - most recent was May. I wish I knew why this was happening.
