Hi ladies

Has anyone here used clomid to successfully treat a short luteal phase? My (utterly useless) fertilty clinic told me today that they were going to mail me a prescription for clomid, although they said that they 'weren't convinced I needed it'. I've had a 22 day cycle with an 8 - 9 day luteal phase since coming off the pill last august. I haven't actually discussed taking clomid with the fs... my GP asked them to move my next appointment forward as I'm moving house, and this was their response! I'm in the process of getting an appointment with a different fertlity clinic near my new address, but that will probably take another 6 weeks or so. Do you think I should take the Clomid in the mean time? Or should I wait till I've spoken to someone who is little more professional, and doesn't prescribe drugs through the mail?!

I'd wait and get proper advice, you should really be monitored by blood tests at the least on clomid really.

Toptack, I agree with Sparkle. You only get 6 tries on Clomid, so I'd wait to make sure you are getting monitored properly or you might waste a month. Good luck.

Thanks, and good point about only having 6 tries on Clomid. The prescription still hasn't turned up in the mail, so I've missed my slot for this cycle, anyway. When I called the clinic about it the nurse said, and this is a direct quote, "oh, maybe I forgot to post it... I think I'm having an early menopause... hahaha"!!! What a thing to joke about, under the circumstances!

How frustrating!!! It amazes me the things some of these 'professionals' come out with! Did you talk to them about monitoring your clomid cycles?

I asked the nurse about monitoring the clomid cycles, but she said she couldn't quite remember what the FS had put in the letter (which still hasn't turned up). This is the same woman who told me it was impossible to have a luteal phase that was anything other than 14 days in length, so I didn't bother asking her anything else, as she's so utterly hopeless at her job. I'm intrigued to see what is in the letter, when/if it ever arrives!
