hi ladies!!
well i have popped over here a few times before, but now we are on our 20th cycle trying for bub number 1! :dohh:
doctor has now put me on clomid starting next cycle cause im about to ovulate in 3 days...(he did an ultrasound yesterday and saw a nice big eggy ready to pop in about 3-5 day) my cycles are all over the place going from 35 to 45 to 29 to 50.....different every month.
he said that because of my cycles we only get about 6 out of 12 months a year to try....so will clomid regulate my cycles??
are there any real side effects??
my doctor said that the only side effect i will have is acctually ovulating!
also he said there is a high risk of multiples...is that true??
im a little excited and a little scared.....
:flower:

hi - im a clomid virgin myself - starting next month (July) after June cycle as have to have a HSG first to make sure my tubes are actually open - which im sure they are but best to check!

Yes it can cause multiple births - twins mainly but sometimes more - because you produce more eggs and that means more chance they all get fertilised!!!

I have a regular cycle of 30 days and Ov on CD16 like clockwork - reason I'm being put on it is cos I have a short luteal phase (i start spotting about 7 or 8DPO every month - Dr said try clomid to see if it helps with that which in turn could help with a BFP - so F x'd

What days have you been told to take it? I was told CD1 to 5 but see alot of people take it 2-6, 3-8 or 5-9. Ive been told the earlier you take it the more eggs you get - the later you take it less eggs but better quality....

Also you suppose to Ov 5-10 days after last tablet so I think the clomid should def help with your long cycles - im not an expert though so hopefully one of the Clomid ladies will tell you more!

Good luck. We could be clomid buddies!!!

hi i was put on 50mg clomid last oct after being diagnosed with pcos in june of last year. i had to have a hycosy to check my tube was clear which it was then i started the clomid. i had to take it from days 2-6, on my 1st cycle i had follicular scanning to check the eggies were getting big enough....at about day 11 there were 2 eggs that were almost at the right size, i had the scan repeated on day 15 to check they had ovulated ok...all was good :)

after my 3rd cycle on clomid i still wasnt conceiving so my fs prescribed me another 3 mths worth, she explained that this would be my last 3 mths & if this failed to get me my bfp my only other option would be iui. we started looking into iui & soon realised how expensive it was going to be! ( we already have a 4 yr old dd so wouldnt get it free on nhs) but after 17 mths of ttc & on 4th cycle of clomid i got my bfp!!! i am now 18 weeks pregnant with twins so yes multiples are common with clomid!!! i didnt experience any side effects while on clomid other than bad ovulation pains which i had never felt b4! good luck xx

thank you so much girls!!
im looking forward to starting it cause i have heard great things even if its 'i feel pregnant on our 4th cycle!!' cause that would just be magic for us!!
i have been told to take it from CD 5 to 9 and my gyno has given me 5 repeats!!
we are getting married in 8 months so they further down the year we fall the less massive i will be on our wedding day hahahaha
xxxx

Hi hun. I took it right before bed and didn't have side effects, althought it's different for everyone. Although I always started with a lot of small ones, I never had more than 1 mature follicle by ovulation. The risk of twins is slightly higher than normal, but not nearly as common as with injectable meds. The Clomid helped with my long cycles (although I did acupuncture too, so that could've helped also). They were all over the place before, 50, 72, 65 days. With clomid, I usually didn't ovulate until day 18-20 and had a 35 day cycle or so. Good luck! xx

thank you hunni!
ive got thoughts running through my head at the moment.....maybe if clomid doesnt work....maybe just maybe im gonna put ttc off for a few months....after booking everything in for the wedding today and trying my dress on....oh gosh i have a lot of thinking to do....:)

thank you hunni!

Yeah I think thats a good idea - try the clomid for the 3 months and if nothing just leave the TTC til after the wedding - at least you'll enjoy your big day more if your not having morning sickness and not being able to have any champagne or wine!!!

yeah thats right! if it doesnt work we can just put it off for a little bit....i just dont want to feel like after 20 months im just giving up!! xx

Hi Maratobe, I am not on Clomid yet but may have to be on soon, just wanted to say best of luck to you! Sending lots and lots of baby dust your way!

No worries! I did some research last year on Clomid, thinking that it might have to be the route I take, I did read that it can increase your chances of multiples! I sometimes think it was be so nice to have twins, but I don't know if I could handle more than 2 at the same time! but it would be a blessing either way.
Also, there can be some side effects, the ones that stuck out to me most was the effect it can have on your mood. I suffer from depression and anxiety, so its one thing that worries me, but I have heard of taking it in the evening, right before going to bed, I guess that way you can sleep off your bad mood??So I will definitely do that! That's pretty much all I know now, I plan to read up more.
Keep us posted on how you get on, remember to relax and think positive!!:dust:

thank you hunni!! i have also heard that it can affect your moods....told my OH to watch out cause im already a bit of a mood person hahaha
i will keep you all updated! i will see how this cycle goes first!! :hugs:
