Hey ladies,

So if I end up getting AF this cycle, which I'm currently on CD38 last cycle was 45 days.....just had a lap/dye/hyster on OCt 19th, then I'm sure at my follow up appt with FS on Nov 26th we will talk about the next steps. Lap showed we are all clear and no blockage, not sure if he removed any blockage or whatnot as he spoke with DH not be after the op. Anyhow, when I first met with FS he said we'd do 3 rounds of clomid if that doesnt work than 3 rounds of IUI if nothing move to IVF. However, am I allowed to say I want to trying clomid for a little longer than 3 months? I have a strong intitution that clomid might work for us but for some reason something tells me I will need a few more months rather than just 3. So am I allowed to tell my doctor that I dont want to limit my clomid only rounds to 3 months?

You can tell your doctor whatever you want. At the end of the day, he's there to guide and offer treatments. Some treatments do have limitations such as IUI and IVF due to costs but Clomid is really cheap. If you want to try it for longer he may decide that it's worth it but it depends on how you react with it.

If it helps you to ovulate then he may allow you up to six months but if it doesn't or you have problems with it, he won't.

At the end of the day, all you can do is ask.

Thanks! I do o on my own and was on clomid May '12 and June 12' and responded well on only 50mg so I dunno I just always feel like I have to follow their "rules' and can't say I want to try clomid only a little longer, but your right I do have control over how I want to be treated as long as I respond thats the main thing.

Good. Make sure you do speak up for yourself though.

Too many women aren't getting what they want because they afraid of speaking up.

I was given a 6 month prescription of clomid but FS said just take 3 rounds and if nothing happens then stop as it prob won't happen after that. I decided to continue and got my BFP on the 4th round - can you imagine if I did what the FS said - I wouldn't have my wee boy now! I know another girl who was gonna stop at round 3 too but co's I got my BFP on 4 th round she decided to try a 4th round too and she now has a 1yr old.

Ask the FS to give you the 6 months - good luck with everything

HearMyPrayers,

Was your doctor perhaps suggesting that after 3 months of Clomid you would do 3 months of Clomid combined with IUI?
