Hi there,

I'm just shy (30 hours or so) of being 4 weeks from having my little boy...

The second night home ( he was 3 days old) I passed what I assumed was a clot - but now thinking back I think it was a piece of retained products - it was about the size of nectarine or peach... I was told anything larger then a loonie (canadian dollar coin) I should go get checked out.

I went to the ER that night and took the "clot" or whatever it was with me in a plastic bag on my pad... and the dr checked me out, but didn't take a look at the "clot"..

Now, I've been consistently bleeding for the last 4 weeks it hasn't been anything major... it felt like a normal period, aside from the lack of cramps. I've had a few more actual clots throughout, but nothing for at least a week and a half. And nothing even CLOSE to a size that would make me worried or nervous.

Now earlier today, I passed another "clot" but... I don't know if it was a real clot, or if it was some of the same that I passed 4 weeks ago. :shrug:

I've got my next Dr appointment on the 9th of April...so it's a ways away...

Just wondering if you ladies/gents think I should get checked out sooner then that?

Hey, I would if i was you, but then I'm prob a bit of a panic merchant when it comes to these things...I would have thought after 4 weeks all the clots should have passed. I'm 12 days post birth and still passing membranes...which is lovely!!!!

What I was told was that anything 'bleeding wise' is normal (for the most part) when youre breastfeeding.
Let me go double check what happened to me... *looks*
Sorry if this is TMI, but oh well! :haha:
Just shy of 4 weeks, my bleeding was near gone and I just had a weird discharge... started a light bleed 4 days later... it kept on keeping on into the beginning of October (gave birth Aug. 26th) and the bleed was similar to the first 1-2 weeks after giving birth. I was still bleeding at my 6 week check up, and it didnt surprise my OB... but by the 19th of Oct. I was done.

Im not sure if any of this helps, so I figured Id just share anyway.. :blush:

Id say as long as you FEEL okay, like, no fever, no nausea, no headache, etc... I wouldnt worry, but I say definitely trust your gut instinct and if you are in doubt, give your doc/OB a call anyway and see what they say!

:hugs::hugs:

a day after having him i stood up whilst getting into the bath at the hospital and a big clot about the size of an apple dropped out of me on the floor. I lost one a little smaller in my pad the following day and i am losing smaller ones in the toilet sometimes now... I'm not sure if its normal but i've been told it is and so i'm not concerned..

I agree with OP as long as you feel well in yourself i wouldn't be concerned :hugs: x
