I ve got my first scan tomorrow and they will offer me the combinded downs syndrome test and I'm really thinking about turning it down. If I had it and they told me they think it is then thats fine so is there really a point in me having it?

Could it help you prepare should something be wrong? That's the only reason we are having it x

I had it done today not because I would do anything about it but just so I could get my head around it, if anything you get to see baby for a bit longer while they measure baby on the back of the neck and stuff

every cloud has a silver lining, if baby is being naughty it can take up to 30 minutes just think all that time looking at baby

On my appointment letter it says allow time for 90 minutes

i would get it so you have time to prepare, although a downs syndrome baby is no different to any other baby you only start to notice differences when they get older. my mother looks after a wee five year old boy with downs and he is so cute and so lovely but e has a lot of appointments that cost a lot of money he needs teacher aids at school etc... which can take a long time to organise so the sooner you know the more you can be prepared..

also i dont think i would like to have the baby and then be told it has downs syndrome it would be very upsetting atleast if you knew you would not be upset when you gave birth

I don't see the point in having it if you wouldn't get rid?

Because if you're not planning on terminating it if it was downs then IMO it's not really worth having it or knowing as it would probably ruin your whole pregnancy and you would just feel miserable knowing!? Thats why I didn't get it done anyway, Its upto you really :flower:

Good luck Xx

I had this done and it was worth it 100% Not only are you finding out if you are a high or low risk, but if you are low risk it makes you feel a bit more confident about things. Got my low risk letter in the post this morning and that felt really reasssuring.

Remeber you wont know for sure unless you have the amnio test too which does come with miscarrige risk x The blood screening in itself is not overly accurate

I declined all downs testing, creates alot of unnecessay worry imo

All the best with your decision xo

The NT doesn't just test for Downs. There are other conditions out there too.
