combining breastfeeding with formula

Hey ladies,

I returned back to work today and I am providing my LO with expressed breast milk. There should be enough expressed and stored to get him through the day without any issues but just in case he needs more I would like to have formula to hand. I was wondering if you lovely ladies could recommend which formula is the closest to breast milk.

I combi feed (currently weaning LO off the breast) and I use Aptamil. They state it's the closest thing to breastmilk.

we had problems when first combi feeding LO as he wouldn't drink formula. we brought a tub of powdered cow & gate not realising there was a difference between them all. he refused it so we brought cartons of every brand of formula to try with LO to see which one he preferred.
he refused everyone except for the last one we tried (heinz).
id recommend trying the pre-mixed cartons first to see what LO likes as it can be expensive and wasteful buying the powders then finding LO wont take it.

I use Hipp organic ready made formula, it is gentle enough and has good reviews. Sometimes baby gets too hungry and I don't have enough breast milk, then I use this and it has been fine so far.

agree with trying the ready made cartons first as all bubs are different, I chose aptimil as they say its closest to breast milk but Elle couldnt stand it and it always came straight back up, we found cow and gate worked for her

I have been expressing breast milk since he was 3 days old and now need to top him up with formula and I use SMA, absolutely brilliant and also this is what my midwife advised x
