Hi
Sorry this is a bit long winded!

My four month old has been combination feeding for the past month using aptimal 1. He has always been a very sicky baby (possible reflux although not diagnosed) but lately he has been worse. He has also been suffering from terrible wind in the eveing and during the night. He will not sleep or be rocked to sleep because of it. It was so bad the other night that he wore himself out and was still crying in his sleep.

The doctors and health visitors have said there is not much they can do-which I know is true.

Anyway we have decided to switch to anti-colic bottles and comfort formula. He has taken to the new bottles fine but will not take the new formula.

Any tips? Can we mix the formula and gradual increase the amount of comfort and decrease the amount of aptimal 1?

Thanks

I can't see any reason not to try that - it won't take effect as quickly but if he at least will drink it it's a start! Are you using the next size teat on the new bottles, as the comfort won't come out as fast?

You might need to keep an eye on it the first time and make sure it mixes ok, as the two are quite different textures. Also, the teat size might be an issue - I'd sterilise both and switch if he has troubles with the flow.

A couple of things you should know about comfort formula, so you don't think something's majorly wrong - if you look closely it looks like there are crystals in it, if you let it stand it separates, it's more filling so LO may take less than stage 1, and his poos are likely to go green, wet and stinky for a while.
