Hi all
I'm 18.5 weeks now. For the past few weeks I've felt intermittent "tapping" and was thinking that's the baby kicking. I have anterior placenta so I don't feel movements often or strongly. After second guessing for a long time, I figured those must be the baby's kicks or punches. But since yesterday I've been feeling those taps/movements in my sides ( near the waist) and above my belly button. I'm so confused - so were any of the movements I've been feeling really the baby? Surely I should not feel it all the way to the side or above the navel right?

I'm sure it is babba. At this stage they still have plenty of room to flip about the place so entirely possible to feel movements in different places.

haha I literally was wondering the same thing, most of my movements are around my right hip but every so often I'll get the same feelings on my right side or really the side of my bump and I'm like "That feels like its too far over for baby to be there" And I know if I'm sitting kind of hunched I feel stuff right above my belly button too and I'm always curious about if it was baby. I thought for a while maybe I was feeling organs being moved around in there but I dk.
I swear for a few days I could feel LO in my back on the same side and it was really weird.

Sounds like baby to me. I have an anterior placenta and to be honest I don't think it's always the case that movement will be restricted in anyway. I felt this one (my second baby) from 12 weeks and feel him kicking everywhere now, even my ribs and my placenta is apparently up at the top at the front.

Phew- glad it wasn't a wrong guess all these weeks! Feeling the baby move and kick was the most awesome part of my first pregnancy. Bummed about having anterior placenta this time around but I'm glad I'm feeling something, even though it's light and sporadic.

I'm a few weeks ahead of you and only now am I getting really strong kicks (anterior placenta here too). Be patient, you'll feel more soon x

Your be surprised. I've noticed the last week or too baby is able to reach to the sides with ease. Usually kicking the mattress or pillow when I lay on my side. And I'll feel and even see him kicking and stretching out on both sides at the same time.

Feels odd the first few times though!
