Confused about my cycle

Hi All - first timer here! It's nice to find a place to share all the hope/confusion/tension/ etc...

I went off bc (pills) and got a period on March 13. I've been temping, though somewhat inconsistently, and my temps were averaging like 97.2, and even went down to 96.8 several times.

I thought I saw a temp jump around cycle day 25, and it did stay up but only around 97.6 or so. Stayed that way (with one day at 98) for 9 days until AF arrived.

So now I am confused - did I ovulate? And if so, should I be concerned about the short luteal phase?

Or, did I not, and should I be concerned about my low temps / thyroid?

I know it's my first cycle off the pill so it's probably too early to worry

Thanks for any thoughts!

hi hun :flower:

Nice to see you here - I too came off bcp eight months ago and my body is still trying to get back to normal, ha ha!

as this is your first cycle off it I wouldn't worry at all - things will be erratic for a good while but most people go back to whatever their normal cycles would've been about three months after coming off it. Apparently you're more likely to conceive right after you come off it too, so get BD-ing! :winkwink:

As far as I know, O is confirmed as long as you have three or more sustained rises in temperature after your O date...you may also see a bit of a temp drop the day before you O (the day before the rise or 'shift'). As you had nine days of sustained temps I'd say you definitely O'd. It can take a while to settle though so don't be too concerned about your LP just yet - see how it goes and chart over the next few months and that should give you some idea of your cycle patterns and what's going on for you. Good luck xxx

Do you have a link to your chart?
Your O day can be moved up a number of ways. 50 mg of a B complex moved mine from CD19 to CD15.
From what you have described, it sounds like you ovulated....and that's amazing since you just got off the pill.
My temps are on the lower side, as well, and I am considering getting my thyroid and progesterone levels checked if I don't get knocked up soon, but there are plenty of women with lower temps without hypothyroidism that get pregnant and have babies without issues.

You should probably continue to chart for at least 2 more cycles before you start worrying.

Good luck!

Thanks ladies! I appreciate your advice so much, it helps just to have a few people to talk through all this with. It's much more confusing than I imagined it would be!

Good luck to you both as well, hoping for a BFP for all os uf soon!
