Based off of my LMP, I'm due Nov 22. At my first appointment at 9 weeks, my doctor did an ultrasound and because of how small the baby was, she decided to move my due date to Dec 3, figuring I must have ovulated later. Which put me at a little over 7 weeks. But since she said she was moving my due date, the office, as well as my doctor have been referring to my Nov 22 due date, saying I am currently almost 19 weeks? The only reason I'm concerned is because I'm being scheduled for a repeat csection at 39 weeks. I had an appointment with her today and totally forgot to ask which due date is correct. :dohh:

If they are wrong, a week shouldn't matter too much, right? Even if it is a week early?

Well, I think most hospitals want you to be at least 38 weeks. You really don't want to get the baby out too much sooner than it's ready. But you should have your anatomy scan coming up pretty soon, and they'll measure everything, head, bones, organs, get the weight, so that should help with finalizing an actual date. I know they don't typically change due dates after 12 weeks or so because the babies growth can start to vary a bit from one baby to the next. But as long as your baby is measuring on track and looking about the right size for gestation, your doctor should be able to tell you for sure which date to go by.

I JUST went through this, at the anatomy scan they wanted to push me back a week after I had pushed back 4 days prior. So my OB and I talked and he agreed to keep the original due date....I think it is something we are going to monitor as I get closer. I think if you keep open communication you can work it out...babies grow at such different rates.

Hi love, I'm a sonographer. The amount of time between those two dates is 11 days which is quite a bit. You are best to correct them otherwise they will think at your subsequent scans that baby is measuring too small.
Let the professionals make the informed decision whether to change your dates or not xx

I have my anatomy ultrasound in less than a week... hopefully after that I will know more. But I'll definitely try to remember to discuss it with my doctor. I can't believe I forgot to ask her.

Thank you. I'll make sure to let the sonographer know about the possible different due dates, so maybe she can figure out which one is more likely correct.

Yeah that's a good idea, they will sort it out for you. Enjoy your anatomy scan! :)
