Confused about tv aerials..help?

Right, I want a tv in my bedroom, so I'm looking at getting a tv/DVD with freeview built in, but don't know how the aerials work.. There's a wire coming through the wall above the skirting board in the lounge for the tv there, is there anyway of getting that upstairs? It's rented and I don't wanna go making a mess, but surely there's an easy solution somehow?? Or do I need to put one in the loft? And of I do, does any one know what sort it needs to be??
I am actually clueless! I just want to watch tv in bed

Get an adapter so you have two aerial points what split off then an extension lead and trail it upstairs x
