Ladies,
I posted this in first tri as well, but since I am slightly worried it could be age-related, thought I would put it here too. (btw I am 35).

I am wondering if anyone has any experience with this or any ideas. I noticed a couple of spots of blood when I wiped on 8 or 9 dpo. I suspected implantation bleeding. I felt a little crampy and I got my BFP on Saturday afternoon. I have since confirmed it with several tests, and the lines are getting darker. I was 10 or 11 dpo when I got the bfp.

Then, on Sunday (one day after bfp) I started feeling a sharp (though not severe) pain on what felt like the right side of my uterus. It was very localized. It felt like what I would imagine implantation would feel like. This lasted for about a day. Then yesterday afternoon (two days after bfp), I started spotting brown blood. Only a couple of spots got on my underwear, and it was mostly only visable when I wiped.

Today (three days after bfp) the spotting continues. But now it is thick and reddish. It is only there when I wipe still, and there isn't a ton of it, but there are a few thickish clumps on my tp when I wipe.

I called my OB and spoke with the triage nurse. She said not to worry. It could be implantation spotting. BUT can implantation bleeding occur days AFTER bfp??? It really confuses me.

One other thing that worries me a bit is the nature of my last period (in march). I spotted for 5 full days before I started a heavy bleed on the 6th day. That is not normal for me. I usually spot 2 days at the most before I start. It has me worrying about my progesterone levels. I mentioned it to the nurse, but it did not see to concern her. Could my progesterone levels be fluctuating because of my age (35)?

Any suggestions/ideas/info that anyone can give will be appreciated. This is my second child, and it is all flooding back to me how worrisome the first trimester can be!

I'm not sure about levels. Has the spotting stopped?

Yes, I spotted for two days and it completely stopped. Was very similar to implantation bleeding. Still not sure why it happened after the bfp. I feel much better about things now. Will wait until ob appointment on Friday to bring it up again to doctor.

I spotted at 6 weeks, and was told tat bleeding in early pregnancy is normal as the baby tarts to seat into the uterus, and as the placenta grows. I would monitor your HCG levels, as this will be more indicative of the pregnancy's viability. When I was bleeding, my HCG was around 20,000, which is a good number.

Do you have any quantitative HCG numbers? Have you tested your progesterone levels too?

I also had a bleed at 7 weeks which was a bit like having my normal periods except no pain whatsoever. I went to emergency, they elected not to do an ultrasound on the spot because there was no pain, just bleeding, not heavy bleeding either, but because I was only 7 weeks I felt I needed to know if that was actually a miscarriage. It was a long weekend when this happened on Friday night and so I had my ultrasound on Tuesday after which confirmed there was still a viable fetus intrauterine and not outside of the uterus. I haven't had any more bleeding since then and my pregnancy hormones have never dropped, they just kept increasing. It is very likely that it was just spotting because of implantation taking place and not because anything might be worrysome. Try not to worry, go with your gut feeling, if you feel things are fine then they probably are.

I had spotting at 8wks with DS1 and he was fine!
