Hey There Ladies

So have had my first test scheduled in and am a little confused. I have been told that i am having an abdominal and vagainal ultrasound on the 8th June.

However when i had my consultation with the FS, she never mentioned this test. She told me that i would either have a Lap and Dye or a Hysterosalpingogram (tubal x-ray). Now i am wondering if this is instead of or as well as???

Can anyone who has been through this on the NHS tell me their experience is and what i will be having?

Weird. I didn't have Lap and Dye or a Hysterosalpingogram (tubal x-ray) at all. Usually they do the u/s first to see if there is anything on that first. My Dr wanted to try clomid before he was even going to think of doing the other things.

I would have thought it was as well as, just to check you have normal bits, uterus etc. They can't see if your tubes are clear on ultrasound, or whether you have endometriosis, hence having the HSG or lap and dye.

I didn't have an ultrasound, just the HSG, which was fine. I think each place has slightly different protocils for the investigations.

Good luck with yout tests :flower:

From what I can remember I had a normal ultrasound to start with... that was just to check the size of my ovaries and make sure nothing looked abnormal. Then a few weeks later I had the HSG to check my tubes were clear.

Hi MrsRM:flower:

I had a HSG and an internal ultrasound. I happened to have the HSG first but that was just because of timings with appointments etc. I'm a bit surpsied that you would be having a lap and dye so early on before the HSG and ultrasound, but as a previous poster said it does seem to be different in each area though.

Good luck with your tests :hugs:

I had my internal scan done at first appt and then the other tests were an option for later on (but don't need them now we're going for ICSI) xx

Thanks all, i may five my FS a call this week just to clarify....i think they will do only do the lap and dye if they feel its really necessary. But i would like the Hysterosalpingogram just to confirm that my tubes are clear.

Much appreciated x

I had both. I had the trans vag US to check my ovaries, then an HSG to check my tubes were clear. x
