Hi.

I had my copper coil removed in June right smack bang in the middle of my cycle. It was my second coil and I'd had it in for about a year. Previously I had one for the full five years.

We started trying right away, though I figured we'd probably just missed OV, and wasn't surpised when I came on 13 days later. However in July, my cycle was a whopping 37 days long!!! I did SO many tests and couldn't work it out when they all showed negative. It was almost a relief when I eventually came on.

In August my cycle was exactly 28 days. I don't know about everyone else, but until we started trying I never charted my cycles. I know that I always came on around the 1st of the month, give or take a day or two, but I couldn't tell you how many days had passed in between because I never kept a note.

I just wondered if anyone else had experienced this. I spoke to someone about it at the time and she reckons the 37 day-er was because it was my first full cycle since having the coil removed.

Thanks,
Flora x

Hey Florabelle

I was on false hormone contraceptives for almost 9 years without a break. I had implant taken out mid Feb this year and we tried for almost 6 months without a single :bfp: - I was totally distraught! My cycles were averaging between 37 and 46 days! Just found out that I wasn't ovulating and that was what was the problem was!

Have you been doing OPKs or BBT to check you are?

I've just started doing BBT this cycle, however, the chart is currently all over the place so I have some doubts about its reliability, or at least my ability to do it right. I haven't bought any OPKs as I only seem to start thinking about it mid-cycle and as they're expensive, I want to be sure I'm not literally peeing money away. Do they work regardless of when you start using them?

The coil I had was non-hormonal as I refused to have any false hormones in my body. I was on the pill for several years but came off it six years ago in favour of this non hormonal contraception instead.

Just going through the exact same thing. I had the copper coil removed in July. I think I had a 10 day period 1st cycle and this cycle I'm on day 16 and still going. I've not had a proper bleed just brown stuff though.
bleh.
I can't find anything online about how long till your cycles return to normal. Soooo frustrated cos I had it taken out because of the long and heavy cycles.
