Contraceptive implant

Hi ladies...

I have now had in my 3rd contraceptive implant. It was put in on the 12th December 2014. Since 2 weeks after the implant I have suffered with bloating, chronic UTIs and my mood is foul!

I have an appointment in 2 weeks with my family planning clinic regarding taking it out, but I know they don't like to take it out before 12 months.

So I guess my question is, can anyone relate? My last two I never had any problems with until later on in the implant cycle (about 2.5 years)

I've had my implant in for 2.5 years and I'm getting it taken out as my cycles are messed up. I would visit but they will probably say yo give it a bit longer.

Have you though about having the coil inserted?

I can relate.
My first implant was amazing, no periods and no side effects.
My second implant was an absolute nightmare! I would bleed for 3 weeks straight, it would stop for a few days and then start again. I turned into a total hormonal beast as well 😳 I ended up getting it removed after a year and within 2 weeks I lost over a 1.5 stone! I'm not sure if they'll just tell you to wait a bit longer for it to "settle" before they remove it though.
I suspected it was because they changed the make of it. My first one was implanon (I think?) And my 2nd began with an N.

I'm going to get another one fitted after baby's born and just hope for the best I get lucky like the first time.

I had the implant and my moods were awful. I went to my gp and asked them to take it out and they didnt argue too much.

Yeah that's the one! Played total havoc with me. Must be different to the ones they previously used.

Well I went to see them and they said I have given it 3 months, but they have never heard of the implant causing UTIs so they want to do a full sexual screening before they consider taking it out.

So I am in tomorrow to have a full STI test. Feel a bit silly really. I certainly don't have an STI and I am very careful.

Oh well. Hoping that they will just take it out!!
