contractions.....laying down?

So this may seem stupid, but if I lay down will they go away?

I've been having them about 8-12 minutes apart for hours, varying in intensity though over half are quite painful.

I had these ten minutes apart yesterday for 1.5 hours and then I took a nap to rest up and they died out.... so now I'm afraid to lqy down even though its midnight.

If it helps, I had a sweep yesterday around 11am.

As I understanf it, if it's the real thing then you won't stop them by laying down.

Yeah I'm pretty sure it's as the previous poster said, if its real labour it won't slow down but if it's not then it will. Good luck!x

I changing activity stops them they are not real is what I've always gone by, it sounds like your body is getting ready though so the best thing you can do is rest! Go lie down, if they stop it wasn't going to happen, if they keep going at least you are resting.

Thanks ladies! They ended up dying down and then woke me up at 330am. Showed up to the hospital at 545 to find out I was already 8 cm!
