is it all over the belly? or the vagina lol? its just so hard to imagine what this unbareable pain will be like ... xx

I'd like to know as well to know what I'm looking out for?

xx

mine started slowly in my back and faintly in my lower belly.my bump also kept going hard at the same time as pains.started off feeling like period cramps.as the contractions got closer and longer my belly felt tighter.the pain sort of starts in the back and goes round the bump.but later it was more in the lower belly.dont worry you will know when they happen.at 1st i thaught mine were braxton hicks but they didnt ease no matter what position i was in.hopw this helps a little, but remember that every labour is different and people will experience different pains. good luck.hope you all have quick and easy labours:happydance:

Mine was pretty much the same as upsy daisy1's.

Started out like period pains & in my back, they came & went regularly but I could cope by putting my back against a hot radiator!!!
Then moved round the front & lower down & started getting more & more intense.

You just kind of know when its the "real thing"

Good luck :) xx

All my pains where in my front. They started quite low down, in the area where I would get normal period cramping but they slowly worked their way up my bump and it was the same with the tightenings intill eventually my whole tummy felt rock hard. I had mild pains in my back but the majority of pain was in the front. It was odd because even though I was hurting in the front the only thing that eased the pain was my mum rubbing my back lol.

Like upsy daisy said though every labour is different. My friend had all her pains in her legs when she had her little boy so its just one of those things.. And don't worry you'll know when it's labour pains.. Annoying as it is hearing that all the time it's true

Again its different for everyone! Mine were in my back and stayed there all the way through , the tightenings in my belly weren't painful in comparison to my back pains :)

Hope this helps girlys!

Sorry to barge in but what do the back pains feel like? I've been having wierd twinges in my back the last few days, nothing I've felt before but a bit like toothache or a nerve? X

Its bearable, but depnds on your pain threshold. I was in induced labour on a high drip for 16 hours, I did it all without pain relief until the last minute. The worst part is if you are bed ridden, move about as much as possible. Bed is really a big no no for labour. I was bed ridden for the last 2 hours because I had to be monitored continuously due to polyhydramnios and the babys head. Everyone is different though so you cannot go on one persons labour. You will definatley know when they are contractions though, i had mini ones to begin with then the real ones kicked in and oh my god... you know!

Imagine being on your period, and the dull ache you get lower in your abdomen. Imagine that 10x worse but in your back... It feels like a tugging sensation, I got a lovely midwife that rubbed my back throughout labour whilst my mum was pattin down near my bottom... ( They are pretty much always low down because of the babys head putting pressure around that area )

mine were all in my back and felt like someone sawing my spine in half! or twisting it..lovely eh

I never felt one contraction in my belly. or if i had them, they probably were too mild in comparison to the back pain.

Imsure you will definately know when its the real thing :)

Mine was the same, I didnt feel them in my front at all

I was coping quite well till they put me on the drip when I was 8cm

mine were all in my tummy... felt like really bad period pains.. 1st i tried a tens machine with my son which i soon ripped off (was rubbish) then i had pethodine* which dulled the pains, but with my daughter i had to be induced 3weeks early and monitored throughout my labour due to OC and only had gas and air.. i just focused on, it didnt matter how bad the pain got it was going to fade just as fast as it came :) i think the worst part of labour is the ring of fire... where they wait for a while when the baby's head is out to strect for the shoulders just breath! x

oooo so thats what that means....

ooo i want to feel these contractions now.... least it means she is on her way :p

Good thread! Did anyone start feeling the back pains weeks before the baby was due, or did they only come on at the end?

I've been having mild period cramps for a few weeks now... They were very off and on though, like I'd have a handful and then they'd go...yesterday I lost part of my mucus plug and started cramping and had irregular cramps pretty much all day after that.... Then this morning woke up with a burning feeling in one side of my back...that spread across to the other side, along with tightening/pulling pains across my abdomen. :) I was worried about waking up in agony this morning, but it wasn't as bad as I was expecting...

sorry to hear you has that OC to its horrible isnt it :( I have this to. I've got to be induced a few weeks before my due date to im hoping my waters go before they have to induce me, i take it you had no choice but to be induced in the end lol. im going tp try gas and air first but if the pains unbearable i think i might ask for anything in the end lol. Im soooo not looking forward to the ring of fire oooooh nooo lol xx

Hi, mine were also all in my back. I don't remember feeling anything at the front. I was so surprised, i had not expected it to be that way, expected to feel it all at the front. I didn't have any back contractions until the proper labour started. Good luck ladies- it's all so worth it!

All my pain was low and in the front, like really bad intestinal gas pain. I never had any pains in my back.
