Can anyone recommend some mid- to late-pregnancy safe (and comfortable) core strengthening exercises to help with lower back and hip pain?

Thanks!

You could try prenatal Pilates or Yoga. :) There are free videos on YouTube. I'm still doing push ups and planks to try to keep my core strong, but it's definitely more difficult with a bowling ball hanging down!

I have a few videos, but they don't seem to offer much help. They have wonderful hip opening sequences, but actual moves to help support the lower back seem excluded. Any particular YouTube videos or series you'd recommend? I was wondering if planks would be helpful. I haven't been doing them, so I'm not sure if introducing them at this point would be too much or not. I think I'll start with short sets and see how I feel. I know they are great for overall core strength and support, so it does seem like the right direction. Thanks!

I had back aches in my last pregnancy and prenatal Yoga helped. Mostly because my muscles relaxed and I felt less tight. I also started out with a lot of stretches that already put everything into place a bit ;)

My midwife is having me do two exercises that are both for strengthening and back pain as well. Squats are good for that and so is pelvic rocking. And they're both really simple to do and you don't need to take a class for it :)
